This Celtic team is easily still the best in the East, and only 5 points shy of winning the whole thing.

KG of the regular season in 10-11 will be better than KG of the 09-10 regular season. His leg got better and better every month.

All this team needs is a couple more young legs to help maintain minutes and play more competitively when 1-2 of our starters go down here or there.

This is what I'm thinking too. People want to blow up a team that was 5 points shy of winning a championship?

Orlando and the New Lebronnettes are likely the only teams to contend for the Eastern title next year, with Miami possibly in the mix as well. Chemistry and defense are essential to contending teams, and we have both.

Danny will need to be very smart with the draft and free agency, but he can easily bring back the core of this team (starting five, Tony, Nate, and Davis) before using any of the MLE.

The window is still open.

I don't want the team to be blown up.

I want the team to improve for another run.

There is a downward trend being shown by key offensive players.  They need someone to be what those guys used to be.

I hear you. I wasn't directing my comments to anyone in particular, really.

If Danny can somehow acquire an offensive-minded wing to assume scoring duties when Pierce and Allen are out, it'd be a tremendous addition. And then shore up the end of the bench with some length/height/muscle.

Why not make Ray the sixth man and look for a legit scoring option at the 2-guard? Would have the benefit of saving Ray for the playoffs and improving scoring in both the starting lineup and on the bench.

who though? What wing is out there that can contribute inseted of pierce and allen? I think we need a big change into the starting lineup. We are going to be very very old next year. Hopefully there is a way we can throw our hats into a lebron/wade mix where maybe we can end up with one of those guys. IDK I am so confused on whats going to happen. I want something big to happen so we can all forget about what happened and feel how we felt going into 08..

The old guys can still score in bunches. We saw a lot of great individual performances by the older guys throughout the 4 rounds of the playoffs. They just can't carry the load for 40+ minutes anymore.

The Celtics just need to find another piece or 2 this offseason.

If the C's go the MLE route, they could probably get a Korver, Miller, Outlaw, Harrington, Salmons, J Howard, Childress etc type. I'm not as polished on the young names, but folks have mentioned Morrow.

I'd also take a look at a back up scoring center like either of the O'Neals on a 1 year deal - especially if Wallace retires or Perkins' recovery forecasts out to 6+ months.

I think they ought to make a hard run at Mike Miller, especially if Doc stays on another year. He'd be an excellent 6th man, and is still young enough (30) to step in and be the full time starter when Ray and/or Pierce retire.

Yeah mike miller is good.. but number 1 option? No.. We need a guy that everyone knows could kill them and demands a double team. Pierce used to do that but doesn't anymore. Mike Miller sure doesn't do that. I would love miller off the bench but I want a Joe Johnson type who you have to stop in order to beat us while have pierce and KG chip in. Its just tough right now to think what we can do. Hopefully Danny does something that can get us a number 1 option and a go to guy down the strecth.

I think the Celtics need to sell themselves to one of the top FA about the historical greatness they can achieve with the Celtics.

Make a FA force his team to sign and trade with the Celtics.  Offer a combo of Ray (one year deal, Davis and/or the drafted player) with future picks.

Basically, give a team an expiring money and depth pieces for a guy that is leaving anyways.

I like a player like Joe Johnson.

As for a big, one guy I would keep in mind is Erick Dampier. He's got a partially guaranteed contract, meaning he's probably going to be dealt to a team looking to save money or clear cap space.

When he gets released, we could offer him serious minutes on a championship contending team, while Perkins rehabs.

But is he worth the MLE he will probably command?

If Perk is out for a good portion of the season, yes.
If Perk is back early and strong, no.

Def. something we could do. I know wade said on twitter last night that he was sick for some reason right before he went to bed after the game. Perhaps he was sick of Kobe wants to be a celtic and win it all! I know wishful thinking but we really need to sell to one of the top FA's that our history is like no other and you Lebron or Wade can put us over the top and be one of the greatest Celtics of all time.

Oh, that would even be better.  Wade is the type of player that appreciates good vets (see Shaq).

And on Boston, he would feel that Boston is not "his team".

For a long time I have been wanting to see Wade in Green. Honestly if someone Danny can pull another Kg-Allen....and get us Wade or Lebron...it would be absolutely awesome !!

I know that its near impossible to get one of those guys....but w/e it is....I know D. Angie is capable of getting this team right back into the finals by pulling a few strings in the off season.

If he can convince one of them that Boston is their best chance to win some titles, soon.

If he can convince one of them that Boston gives them the best chance to beat Kobe next year.

If he can get a team to take Ray and filler for said player and a bad contract.

It is a long shot.

MLE: no. And I don't know if he would necessarily command full MLE money.

We don't have LLE, unfortunately, since we used it on Marquis this past year. So it'd have to be vet minimum money.

We'd have to sell him hard on the culture of the franchise and his opportunity to contribute. Might be wishful thinking.

While that would be nice, I could see to many title team looking for a big man jumping at him.

Imagine how good he would be for a team like Atanta that could not defend Howard?
