I never said I wouldn't do the trade. All I said is that it cripples the front line defense and makes the team worse.
That said, if the team decides after beating LA that the window is closed and they want to start to build towards something 2-4 years away, then this becomes viable. But if the goal is to make another run at the whole thing again next year, this is a bad trade for the club.
Yeah I saw that after I responded. But still I think that team would have the chance to repeat. Bosh was the numero uno PF this year and he's a good defender on the pick and roll. I think you consider trading KG if you make that deal though. Who could you get for KG?
Plus I think you can get a solid center for MLE or less. Lineup would be something like:
Haywood, Bosh, Pierce, Ray, Rondo
with KG, Tony Allen, Nate off the bench. You'd basically upgrade from KG to Bosh and Rasheed to KG. Haywood isn't that big of a drop off at C from Perk. You will lose a lot from BBD to whatever vet minimum guy you bring in, i.e. Shelden.
I still think you could keep Wallace though - I'd have to think if a team would trade a stud for BBD and Perk, they'd rather have Tony Allen on a one year with a team option, then Wallace with two years left. Then maybe split the MLE to bring in a fourth big and improve the guard spot. I also think the team will be able to buy another pick.
