So I am trying to figure this out. If the refs better than the Celtics will give a better effort today? I honestly wish all threads like this would go away -- especially when they are unwarranted after a game in which the Celtics were completely outplayed.

I think the C's are guaranteed to give a better effort......

Some of the post here are not saying the refs made the Celtics lose......some are just complaining that the game/s lack flow on a regular basis.  Too much stoppage.

If Joey Crawford and the NBA refs are fixing games, it's definitely not in the Lakers favor.

It's more like they're out to sink the Lakers if you believe in this conspiracy thing.  

The free throw disparity between the Lakers and their opponent is so extremely skewed that it definitely looks like the fix is on to kick the Lakers out of the Playoffs.  I mean seriously, the Lakers have had almost 100 less free throws than their opponent in just 17 games...wow.

Such an extreme differential handicapping the Lakers almost makes me want to believe Stern is rigging the Playoffs for anybody BUT the Lakers to win.  Luckily I don't believe this BS.

It's kind of like the conspiracy theorists that think the US never landed on the moon despite the overwhelming evidence to the contrary.



That chart speaks volumes.

It is interesting to note that the top 4 teams on the list are all teams Boston and LA have faced these playoffs.  

What i get from that information is that Stern and crew did as much as they could to extend each series the Lakers and Celtics played in up to the finals.  Its clear that stern only cares about the money.

What does this say for the current finals matchup?  Follow the $$$
       1.  Stern will do whatever it takes to send the series to 7 games.
       2. Money says 1-1 going back to boston makes the series much more interesting so look    
            for us to have the reffing advantage in game 2.
       3. A 4-1 Celtics championship = much less money so dont count on the Cs closing it out
           at home.
       4.  It will all come down to game 7 in LA, and it will be arguable the best
            games in history.  Stern will pull his troops, few fouls will be called and it will be
           an all around great game with lots of aggression, Technicals, and flagrents.

The NBA is a business. All you have to do is follow the money. Donaghy bet on games solely based on who stern chose to ref and he hit about 80% of the time.  

Edited. Just look at how many less freethrows they shoot!  

C's in 7

I don't quite buy the money aspect; too hard to keep something like this a secret.  Add to that there hasn't been a game 7 in the Finals in years.

But I give you props cuz it's a plausible business-related conspiracy theory different than the typical "Stern just loves the Lakers and hates everybody else so he rigs the games so Lakers always win".

i think most people agree the celtics were outplayed, but it does not mean the officiating was good or did not have any impact on the game.  they made terrible calls for both teams, but the calls made favored the lakers and their play.  for example, 54 fouls in 48 minutes means that they called ticky tack calls, which favors the lakers and hurt the celtics style of play.  taking ray out of the game due to foul trouble on a couple terrible non shooting fouls changed the dynamic of the celtics game plan and style of play, especially on the offensive end, which benefited the lakers in the way they could defend the celts.

nba officiating is a complete joke and should not be overlooked.  at the end of the day, the teams win or lose the games, but to dismiss the impact of officiating on a game is ludicrous.

And yet, somehow with all these questionable calls and the refs being on the lakers payroll the celtics were only called for 2 more fouls than the Lakers and actually shot 5 more fts than the Lakers.

It is curious that even though the refs were on the Laker's side so many of the Laker players themselves were in foul trouble too.

Yep, totally the refs fault the celtics lost.

Allright. I'll bite troll…

The Lakers were hitting the Celtics often and HARD committing obvious fouls that disrupted the Celtics rythm. Most of them were called, yes. The C's however were getting called for ticky tack fouls that got them into foul trouble. Big difference. Now go back to Laker land. Remember you were up 2-0 on the Suns and yet they were real close to being back up 3-2 on you.
