I think Reddick should start over Wince Carter next year for Orlando. To me, Wince killed their ball movement at times well Reddick moved without the ball and spotted up for open looks. That seemed to hurt us more than defending Wince on the ball. Wince ought to move on to a team like Houston to backfill for T-Mouth. Wince is an athletic version of Fatione Walker.

Vince is better than Toine was, but Toine had more heart and he was clutch. Toine would jack up a lot of shots, but he would make the important ones.

I don't think Reddick is starting material.  I think a team would be better served with him coming off the bench.
Toine made the clutch ones seem more noticeable and memorable because he danced around and made a spectacle of himself after he made one.
It reminds me of the Kenyon Martin effect- he would seem like he had a great game because you remember him carrying on after 3 or 4 dunks, and when you looked at the box score, he finished with 8 points and 2 rebounds.

Redick deserves credit: he has turned himself into a good NBA rotation player.

No way--repeat, NO WAY--would the Magic not match any Celtic offer.

I think Orlando would let him walk for the MLE, but I can't see us spending that much.

Agreed.  I'd love to have him, but we cannot over spend.

Are people looking and judging by the last thing they saw in Reddick? He was having some problems getting playing time right before the playoffs. It looked like Reddick was in Stan's doghouse throughout the regular season. Is he a consistently good role player,i don't think so...he is to short for my likeing.

I think you guys are overrating Riddick because of what you saw last round.  He's a specific type of player, and this wasn't the first time that he did a good job of defending Ray Allen.  Riddick excels at staying on a man through screens, but he is not considered a good defender otherwise.  He's also not too good at getting his own shot, driving to the hoop, or dribbling/passing.  In addition, he's rather small for the position, or so it felt.

Given the Celtics off-season needs, I just don't see there being room for Riddick.  I have nothing against the guy, and respect the effort he played with in the last series, but there may not be room for him.  Acquiring him for the bench wouldn't be the worst thing though.

He was actually pretty consistent this year.  Here are his splits:

http://www.basketball-reference.com/players/r/redicjj01/splits/2010/

He'll give you about 10-11 points on 40% 3PT shooting in 20 or so minutes per game.  That's actually pretty good production for a bench guy.

Also, his size isn't bad; he's what, 6'4"?  That's not great size (especially with his short arms), but it's not terrible, either.

Ultimately, I agree that he's not a priority for our team; I'd rather get a true small forward, and maybe a back up point if Nate leaves.  However, I do think Redick would be an excellent player off our bench.

that is pretty much I feel and also why I think he will get the MLE from someone.  I'd rather it not be us, but he wouldn't be a bad addition if he is what we ended up adding (and kept Allen, Allen, and Robinson).

Reddick would be a good "Plan B" if they can't get Mike Miller here.  Probably have to overpay to get him, though.

So many of these decisions this summer will hinge on whether they decide to keep going all-out for the next two seasons, and potentially taking on some salary beyond the end of KG's contract (2012).  I can't see many of the guys who would really help our bench (M. Miller, Reddick, Travis Outlaw) signing for only two seasons.  I'm hoping that they're willing to take on some more salary, even if it means delaying the inevitable rebuiling process by a year.  Rather see them spend a little bit of money on a legit backup wing, save the legs of PP and a hopefully-resigned Ray Allen.

Reddick may not be worth the full MLE, but if you're going to pry him away from Orlando you'll have to offer pretty close to that.  Sign him to a 3 year, $9M offer sheet, and Orlando matches.  Hell, they matched Gortat's big offer sheet last year, and he's only a 15-MPG player for them.  They aren't going to push him out the door, he was probably Orlando's third-best player in the series (second-best until Jameer caught on fire).  Orlando's not THAT far away from getting to the finals, and Reddick's a fairly important part of that.

I'd love Miller, but can we include a clause in his contract in which he is required to take a certain amount of shots, or else he doesn't get paid?  He's one of the best shooters in the league, and I saw games last year where he played over 40 minutes and took 4 or so shots.  Kind of riduculous.

I remember hearing a rumor that Ainge made an offer for Redick, but it was declined.

Would really like Redick as a plan B if we can't sign Miller. A good chunk of the MLE, say 3 to 3.5M multi-yr deal, would probably get it done. The Magic would be hard pressed to match and we would still have a little over 2M for another player.

People complain a lot on his size and/or the need for a bigger wing. However, at the beginning of the year the plan was to play House and Daniels together off our bench. This way House could cover the 1's on D and play off the ball on offense. We could use the same approach, albeit with a bigger duo, with a re-signed TA off our bench. Not with Redick covering 1's, but instead always covering the lesser offensive threat. I do like the way TA and Redick would compliment one another.

Yeah, the rumor was that Danny offered Giddens and other junk last season, and shockingly, the Magic turned it down.

I do kinda like and respect Reddick.  I like that he's clearly worked hard on his game since he first came to the league.  I like that he seems to understand that he's not going to be a star like he was in college, and has adapted to being a very good role player.  I like that he fights through screens and plays pretty solid defense.

He's still Plan B, but not a bad Plan B.  Still think the Magic are likely to match any offer sheet that's $4M/yr or less.  Still think the Magic would be particularly inclined to match an offer sheet that WE signed Reddick to, since they'll likely still be going through US for the Eastern Conference crown next season.

When Reddick was on Bill Simmons' podcast, I couldn't help but wonder if he would play for Boston.   I can't remember why, but I came away from it thinking Reddick would love to be on Boston.

I can't pinpoint what it was.  Maybe it was the fact that he was doing an interview with the Boston sports guy in the middle of a key series.  Maybe it was the fact that he seemed to have a ton of respect for the Celtics ... and seemed to knock his own team a bit.  Maybe it's the fact that he went to Duke and seemed to have a lot of respect for history and tradition (I could imagine him wanting to play for a legendary team like the Celtics)... But yeah... I'd guesstimate he'd enjoy playing on Boston.  He mentioned that Boston sets the best picks in the NBA and seemed envious that Ray gets to run through them... seemed to hint that he succeeded in College because he played that same way... which seemed to suggest to me that he isn't totally happy with how he's being utilized in Orlando... and wishes he could run through picks like those.

He has really developed his game over this past year. He has turned into a solid bench player. I would take him for the right price
