J.J. Redick will be a restricted free agent this offseason, and on Monday, Redick continued to say he would prefer to re-sign with the Orlando Magic.

He also indicated that his main goal isn't to go to a team where he would be a starter. In fact, Redick insisted that he would be happy to remain a bench player on a winning team.

"Winning is the most important thing to me," Redick said. "I'd rather have this role on a winning team with a great organization and a great city than anything else. So, in my book, there's no substitute for winning."

He did say he would like to re-sign with Orlando.  But then he talks about playing with a great, winning organization.  Sounds like he's talking about the Celtics.  He couldn't be talking about Orlando, could he?

He's not worth MLE but I would give him LLE or slightly above that to shoot 3's and play solid D off the bench.

He can't handle to the ball so they would need a PG hopefully Nate resigns for a bargain.  They could play together.

I do picture him as a guy who would appreciate the C's history, and would love Boston (just a hunch that he loves the college girls...).  Unfortunately, I would be really surprised if he ended up on the C's this summer, unless it were part of a sign and trade.  I think they would have to overpay him for the Magic not to match, and I just don't see the C's doing that right now...and for him.  However, I could certainly see him signing next summer as an UFA.

We don't have the LLE next year, and the Magic would just match that anyways.

Reddick will get the MLE from someone (maybe not the years, but certainly the dollars).  He is on the upswing, is an excellent shooter, and has ok size (same height as Ray Allen for instance).  I'd much rather spend the MLE on a younger player on the rise then a veteran on the tailend of his career.  I don't think Reddick is the long term answer as a starter (though I'd rather have Reddick then T. Allen as a starter), but I'd be more then happy to have him as the first small off the bench (which is a fine usage of the MLE).  Even just forcing Orlando to match the MLE dollars would be a bonus because the more luxury tax Orlando spends the less likely it is to go after other free agents to add to the team.
2025 Historical Draft - Cleveland Cavaliers - 1st pick

Starters - Luka, JB, Lebron, Wemby, Shaq
Rotation - D. Daniels, Mitchell, G. Wallace, Melo, Noah
Deep Bench - Korver, Turner

He'd be a nice roleplayer, but I think the Celtics have bigger needs. This is especially true if Ray Allen is retained, we'll need a bigger wing and an athletic big much more.

Ok thanks, maybe I would go as high as 2.5m for him.

If he gets the MLE it will be from a team that's a non contender.  If I was him I would stay in Orlando.

Redick can be the Danny Ainge of this era.  Dead eye shooting white guy that doesnt really handle the ball alot, slightly small for his position, better defensively than you might think, and overall can be a royal pain in the ass for the other team ;D

I think Reddick should start over Wince Carter next year for Orlando. To me, Wince killed their ball movement at times well Reddick moved without the ball and spotted up for open looks. That seemed to hurt us more than defending Wince on the ball. Wince ought to move on to a team like Houston to backfill for T-Mouth. Wince is an athletic version of Fatione Walker.
The beatings will continue until morale improves

Vince is better than Toine was, but Toine had more heart and he was clutch. Toine would jack up a lot of shots, but he would make the important ones.

I don't think Reddick is starting material.  I think a team would be better served with him coming off the bench.

Every shot matters in the playoffs.

I don't think of Toine as clutch either subjectively.

We'd still be using the MLE to sign him them.

Redick would never sign a 2.5 million dollar deal, he'd just take the QO at that point.

Since he's an RFA I'd prefer we not go after him. I think we have to make decisive moves and not be forced into the waiting game where we could end up with nothing.
