at least i can go to bed early. lousy performance. the only consolation i can come up with - and it isnt much - is that in 2008, the laker also won their first game at home. Granted, it was game 3 after losing the first 2 in boston...

the refs were terrible for both teams tonight - this wasnt corruption, this was flat out incompetence. speaking of incompetence - the celtics defense springs to mind.

game 2 is huge. i am trying to believe what i saw tonight is not what i will see sunday...but it is not easy to convince myself.

Jeez. The game isn't over. PLenty of time left. Don't let one game change the last month. And the lakers aren't a bunch of scrubs. gosh.

Did not say the Lakers were scrubs. Does not even surprise me the Lakers win this game - I was just saying the defense was inept tonight, the offense was out of synch (partly because the refs would not allow any flow for either team to build). I am not conceding the series, just this game ;-)

If they make a run and come back and stun the Lakers while I sleep, I promise I will sleep during EVERY game of this series...lol

Gah. Needed the three or the dunk there.

We've had so many of those momentum shots not go our way.

I guarantee Perk or Sheed would have got a Tech for what Lamar just did.

Oh please, they would've been ejected.

Lakers are playing their advantages... and Celtics are on an off game. Something's wrong with Rondo, and KG still not ok.

Officiating will change next game, the Celtics must pick their advantages then.

5.32AM here, I want Glenn to break Gasol's thumb, anyways he's not playing for national team this summer... ::)

Play tough, Celtics!

Pau Gasol has been terrific tonight.

23 points (14 FGAs + 10 FTAs), 11 rebounds, 3 blocks, a steal and 2 assists.

Lakers D has been top shelf in this game. Beating us on the break so many times is inexcusable.

I see we're back to the regular season CelticsBlog game threads, too! :)

Seven game series, folks, and this team hasn't quit.

Nice little run here.
well when the c's no show for 3 quarters what am i supposed to think?

Think whatever you want, man. It's a free country. Still a seven game series.

I hate to complain about the refs in this game, but Baby got thrown off balance there, without a call.

Well, I'm not ready to start writing about this game in the past tense. I'll write in the past tense when the game is over.

Slightly better than 50/50 odds that Artest freaks out during one of the games in Boston.

i dont care if the call favored us.  I HATE HATE HATE when refs wait to see if the shot gets made before they call a foul.

It's either a foul or not

True, although if the Celtics don't play better defense, this will be a four game series.

I say that without even an ounce of negativity.  This team is still good enough to win this series, just like we did against Cleveland.  However, it's going to take a better defensive effort.

This is the big (depressing) story of tonight, IMO on an individual matchup basis. KG has looked like he doesn't belong on the same court with Gasol. Utter domination by Pau.

Late to the "party"...have we reached the point where we're capitalizing random words and giving up on the team yet?

Celtics need 3 of their top 4 to show up every game this series...we've got like 1 1/2s worth of production right now.  Hope Ray can stay on the court going forward because the Lakers and especially Kobe are attacking the rim any chance they get.

Not looking great, but we are still in this one...need a big push here.
