nate should get some minutes to give rondo a breather. rajon's clearly not 100%, and he needs every second of rest he can get.

I'd have to say yes.

Playing 38ish minutes is one thing.  Playing that amount in the ECF is another.  Playing that amount as the guy that makes the offense run is something else.  And playing 38 minutes in the ECF while bringing it up/running the offense/bouncing off DHoward AND chasing a guy around double screens and off s/r plays all night is a bit much to ask, even for a young fella like Rondo.  Talent only helps so much when a player is gassed and beat up.

The fact is, when Nate went in, the speed went up, and the energy at that position went up considerably over both Rondo and TA.  It was the only time in 2 games that we had more energy at the position than Orlando, and we need that to be able to win.  The 3pt threat helps even more.  6 more fouls, too.  And a few extra minutes of rest for Rondo will make him more effective as well.

It's not a tough call. Nate should get 10-15 minutes.

What do you guys think of Nate and Rondo playing together at certain times?

If Tony is very limited because of the ankle, Daniels out, Finley not very productive I think it's not a bad idea.   In my opinion Rondo still has to play 40 plus minutes for us to win however if you play them together push the tempo it could open things up offensively for us as well as give Pierce and Ray a breather.   Defensively it might pose us some problems.   You can give Rondo a break at times from guarding Nelson and put Nate on him and have Rondo cover Barnes or Reddick depending on who is in the game.   With Rondo's quickness he can get up under these shooters to bother them.   It is a size mismatch so if you see Barnes or Reddick posting up too much taking advantage of it then stop the plan immediately.

I think 7-10 minutes would be a fair amount of playing time for Nate, give and take a few more depending on how bad/good he plays. We were fine in the first 3 games with Rondo and TA alternating at the point. However, the past 2 games were bad. Rondo seems to be injured a bit and tired. Nate is a streaky player and an energy guy. Maybe give him some minutes early in the game to see what he can do? Something like the last 2 minutes of the first quarter to the first 2-3 minutes of the second?

I was thinking about it today, if TA is healthy, why not TA, Rondo, Nate..SHEED and Sheldon, now there you, have fast break speed, shooters, REBOUNDERS, offensive ones, remember when they mattered..?  But for sure Nate should get some minutes...gotta remember what i always say....things happen....you never know when you are going to need THE BACKUP GUY....sooooo, keep him in the flow of the play offs.....! And i have to say it....play sheldon....does anybody on this team TRY for offensive rebounds anymore..? All i see is the ball goes up, before it hits rim, our guys are over halfcourt......lazy, or tired.....or...?

This reminds me of the Stephon Marbury situation from last year's Playoffs. People were saying that he had a chance to win a game for us or at least create an offensive spark.

IIRC, during Game 5 of the Magic series, we were tied with the Magic at 2 games apiece in the series and we were down by a significant amount of points. Doc hadn't put Marbury in too much prior to that game, just like with Nate-Rob, but out of desperation, he decided to sub him in for Rondo (I think). Like people had predicted, Marbury scored 12 points in the quarter to give us the lead, and ultimately, the win. Eventually, we ended up losing that series, but the point is, I feel the Robinson could have a similar, if not, an even bigger impact than Stephon Marbury had on that game.

Unlike Starbury, however, Robinson is lightning-quick and gives us a little production on the defensive end.

I say yes.  I don't think I'd go as far as to try to create minutes for him by playing Rondo at the 2.  However, I'd give him 5-10 mpg by taking TA's point guard minutes away and giving Rondo a few more minutes of rest.

If he plays another game like this, then maybe we can talk about trying to get creative.

I agree. Giving him some run to give RR some rest is a great idea. He has endless energy and i think 10 mins of back up point will help this team greatly

Of course he should play - that is why they traded for him. doc said all along that Nate would help us win a playoff game. My question is how many games could he have helped us win if doc had only let him play?

When things are going well doc's coaching is great, but when we hit a few bumps in the road and there are personnel adjustments to be made they are often made for him by injuries and foul trouble. = Nate only gets in the game because Rondo got hurt.

Did not like Tony's offense this last game. He was not moving the ball well, did not make key passes and was forcing things. Nate seemed to be be more in the flow. Would like to see Nate with Ray rather than Tony.
