But what about Powe.. sorry flashback.

On top of heart and desire he has underrated (by most) athletic ability for a 300 pounder.  Very light on his feet like he's floating around out there..

He floats like a butterfly and stings like a Manna Ray.

He best attribute though is guts.  He never shies from the moment like say a Rashard Lewis or Wince Carter might do.

3m a year.. another steal.

Yep.  I started a thread a while ago saying Baby is clutch. Doc alluded to it last night.  He said that for whatever reason, Davis seems to play well on the big stage and is not afraid of the moment.  That's why I say we should not trade Baby.  Clutchness and heart cannot be measured on the stat sheet.  He does the little things that help you win games and his BBIQ is off the charts.

No matter how I position this it will come out sounding anti BBD, but that really is not the intent. I admit that I was wrong about BBD's value to this team this year. He has stepped up big time out there and is a player I want on our bench for years to come. That being said, I have to disagree with his BBIQ comment at the end. He has okay BBIQ.  He is a player that continuously gets called for a moving pick at the top of the key and looks at the refs like he has no clue what they are calling. A guy who continuously tries to score directly beneath the basket in the middle of 3 taller guys even though he is getting blocked for the third consecutive time, versus kicking the ball out, does NOT have "off the charts" basketball IQ. Those are stubborn dumb plays that he should not make, but refuses to change.

If he changed those 2 things he would be an even more consistent player and then maybe be considered as having high BBIQ. What the guy has is HUSTLE. He has intensity and no fear. He has some great quick footwork for his body type. Those are the things that make us love him on the floor, not his BBIQ. I will take what he is giving any day though. Keep it up BBD!

I don't remember him getting called for many moving screens.  I think you are confusing him with Perk.

Disagree as well with his BBIQ not being good.  It's not in the Rondo/Pierce league but, it's much higher than you are giving him credit for but, really what else is there to put him down for.  The talent is now apparent to even the most ardent anti BBD posters like yourself and others.

TP for owning up to being wrong though.

Big Baby showed last season he understands when to raise the level when it counts. A lot of wanting to win is about the effort and the hustle and it's such a pleasure to see him putting it all out there. He's given us quite a few timely baskets and stops in every series we've these playoffs.

I'm very impressed with his awareness in crunch-time and what I like more even more than making shots is the rebounds. I think he (and Rondo) have to be the most clutch offensive rebounders on our team. I can't count how many times he's relentlessly found us an extra possession when he's in at the end of a close game. Those are the little things that help us win.
Tommy: He's got a line about me. Tell him the line.

Mike: Everybody 60 or over knows Tommy as a player. Everybody 40 or over knows Tommy as a coach. Everybody 20 or over knows Tommy as a broadcaster. And everybody 10 or under thinks he's Shrek.

maybe we can sucker a team into trading some value for him

You just hate him. Irrationally. Give some credit where its due - you're acting like a Lakers fan.
I don't hate him... I just think he's a bum.  Kinda like regular-season Rasheed Wallace... and Nate Robinson.  Bums.

Scal's a bum too, but nobody pretends like he's good.

So, being able to perform impressively in the playoffs for the second season in a row still makes him a bum for you?

Big Baby is a keeper to say AT LEAST. When he plays with confidence and hits a few shots, he's a 10ppg 5rpg guy of the bench. I love Baby and he fits with this team like a glove

Oh.

Great contribution to the discussion.

Care to give reasons why?

He is not valuable to this team as a bench player?

Right. Let's see, the guy went from rotation player to starter to rotation player, and never said a word of complaint. In the process, he worked himself into NBA shape where conditioning is concerned, and remained a strong contributor to the team when healthy.

I guess that in today's NBA that makes you a bum "kinda like regular season Rasheed". Whatever.

Glad to see the bashers manning up here. Man-Up, people.
Funny his coaches, teammates, the commentators and the fans who love BBD think he has an exceptional BBIQ.
This guy does it ALL.

Baby has fallen in line in the last two rounds. I hated his first round for the most part.

He's moving the ball much better, he's being more active in both sides of the floor, the hustling has been up another notch, his defense has picked up, and he's using the glass much better. He still from time to time tries to do too much by himself, but those instances have been few as of late.

I think it's a combination of three things:

1)  It takes him a good chunk of the regular season to become acclimated to his role, get the necessary foot speed etc.

2)  He gets amped up for the post season and performs well.  Not sure how else to put it.  I think he expects nothing less, which is great to see.

3)  The team as a whole is playing much better (every single person), and BBD most definitely benefits from this.  It's a synergy thing.

Tremendous value pick by Ainge. Baby does so much out on the floor, and he seems to raise his game as the stakes rise.

What an incredible game for Baby tonight. His defense is beyond reproach. His total play is highly energetic and light on his feet. He knows the game, knows what to do in every situaton, so enough of the bunk about not having high BBIQ.
His two jump shots and one under the basket were great. He was shooting well tonight and should have been sent the ball more.
