You might want to revise your list, since you left out David Robinson. ;)

I take it the point of this was to take a shot at Ewing?

Arvidas, Smits, and Laimbeer deserve to be on the list, but are a little high.

Hakeem/Shaq has been debated before - a lot during Nick's Historical Draft. I think Hakeem was the overall better center, but looking at past youtube clips of Shaq, no one but no one could stop him - even Wilt.

Shaq in his heyday was just too strong. Hakeem played him extremely well, but still could not outmuscle the man.

And Dwight? Well, I think he doesn't move too far from where he's at, even with the switching around. He needs to develop some offensive moves.

I'm just glad we have both JO and Shaq now - they both have played well VS Dwight in the past. DH appeared to be getting better in last season's playoff series, even though Perk did a fine job on him.

And who did Dwight have tutoring him this off-season? None other than Hakeem:

This may or may not mean a lot, though. DH had Patrick Ewing tutoring him, but did not seem to get much better.

If he listens to Hakeem - DH may be a huge load this season.

I'm as big a Dwight Howard critic as anyone else, but he's like 25 and he's been all-nba 1st team 3 times already, with 3 top 5 finishes in MVP voting. Putting him below most of those players is ridiculous.

Even though Jack Sikma started his career before 1980 he ended up playing thru the mid eighties. He was a better center than 80 to 90 % of your list.(imo)

Bball - sure Dwight achieved those marks, but by today's standards.

Mark him VS the standard for Centers from 80's, 90's and earlier part of 2000's? Yes I believe he would rank near the middle of the pack - maybe farther down.

Dwight is just too limited Offensively right now, and he blocks shots/rebs off of his athleticism. He needs to get smarter in the game, to me. The athleticism will go away, and if he doesn't listen to Patrick or Hakeem he won't be as effective as - say a Moses Malone was in his latter years.

If we have Amare, Noah and Sam Perkins on here, then we should certainly have our own Kendrick Perkins on this list, as well.

Sure - Perkins seemed to have regressed some as an offensive option last year, but only as KG rounded back into form and Sheed was onboard as well.

08-09 Playoffs? Perk proved himself to me - to the tune of 13-14 pts, 12 rebs, nearly 3 blocks per, all without KG and even without Powe.

Yep - if we are to include the Defensive-limited Amare and Noah and Sam Perkins on this list, then we should certainly include Perk - somewhere.

You're underestimating the value of a DPOY candidate who's in the top 3-5 in rebounds and blocks and gives you 18-20 points a game.

Dwight obviously seems more dominant now due to the lack of competition at the Center position in this current NBA age.

I just wonder how he would be seen if he was drafted in 1992 with Zo and Shaq.

Too early to rank him.

If he continues this way, he will rank high.

Not sure if he'd rank better than 80-90% of centers on the list, but he deserves to be on there.

/agree

I feel the next 3 years we will be able to really tell what type of player he will be for his career.  And where he will rank against the all time greats.
