  • You know my methods, Watson.
I'm more inclined to think that Ray will leave...

If we win it all, there's a good chance that Danny will be satisfied with the body of work he put together with this team and start retooling for the future.

If we lose and fall short, the window has probably closed on this team and I don't see ownership unloading the vault.

As I've said before, better to break things up a year too early than a year too late...  I like Ray, but I don't think I'd be upset if he decided to look for employment elsewhere.

I think 2012 may become a pipe dream if Danny chooses to make another run with this squad.
  • Re-signing Pierce
  • Probably re-signing Perk (I don't see Danny trading him at this point in time)
  • Likely using the MLE this summer and having to hand out a deal that lasts longer than two years (hard to get first choice guys if other contenders are offering longer deals)
  • The possibility of Ray getting a third season
That is a lot of dominoes to avoid while making another run at a title. I'm thinking Danny may have to sacrifice 2012 to make that happen.

I hope so. Win or lose, I think Danny has to change the core of the squad this summer.

I think the writing is on the wall for this group of players and their weaknesses are likely to become more serious as the Big Three continue to age. I think Danny needs to change the dynamic of the squad this summer.

Whether that means rebuilding or just reshaping the roster while trying to contender ... I don't know.

Webber also thought that Michigan had another timeout remaining.   ::)

Huh.

I think if we win it all we're more likely to see Ray back. But if we lose, he'll be let go.

Whether we win or lose, the smart business decision is to re-sign Ray and either trade him or keep him.

Danny's not going to let Ray, a valuable asset, leave for nothing regardless of what happens.

Sorry if someone mentioned it but I don't believe anyone who can't count timeouts.

Oh, I agree with you. When I said "he'll be let go" I was including S&T in my mind. I think that's the most likely option.

Whatever happens I hope Danny Ainge treats Ray with all the respect and honesty he deserves......of course that would be something new for Danny

I think Danny has generally treated players with respect.  However, he has not let that get in the way of doing what he felt was best for the team.

I would be shocked if Ray ever leaves this team on a bad note.

I think Danny has an excellent rep amongst players for being straightforward and honest. Maybe I'm wrong about that.

He's still bitter about Powe. We can let that one slide.

Hope we re-sign Ray, win or lose. He's been an asset to the franchise, a future Hall of Famer, and a class person. Just need the 2 sides to agree to a $$ amount.

Didn't Ray say he wanted to stay in Boston?
