I would diagree with both of you based upon past comments by former players and the latest of those being Leon Powe....Dann may well have reason to not re-sign Powe and we can debate about that all day but I think even Jeff and Hobbs and most on here will agree with me that DA treated a good man like Leon like a piece of trash....and Leon was too classy to say anything bad about htat publicly really.....

I don't want to argue but my gut says he is sharp, he can be be very enagaging but like Toine once said....Danny Ainge isd a snake.....if I am wrong I am wrong.....I don't sleep with him, play for him or work for him so it matters not

Whatever happens I hope Danny Ainge treats Ray with all the respect and honesty he deserves......of course that would be something new for Danny

Based on what?

If your referring to Powe, i fail to see how Danny didn't treat him with respect by not giving him a charity hand out to sit on the bench.

based on the fact that he hasen't contributed one Iota to the Cavs this year, I think danny made the right call, even if it was a tough one for Powe fan's like myself to take.

I love Leon but this is business, and in this business your paid by your ability to contribute to a team. You don't get a contract to sit on the bench and be a cheerleader because of past efforts. It sucks, but it's life.

all day but I think even Jeff and Hobbs and most on here will agree with me that DA treated a good man like Leon like a piece of trash....and Leon was too classy to say anything bad about htat publicly really.....

Gonna need more than unsupported claims that Leon was "treated like trash" and the fact that toine was bitter to side with you there Po.

We all love Leon. No doubt.

But not signing him was the smart thing to do. He hasn't produced this year and may not be 100% until the end of next season. And that's if he doesn't have anymore knee injuries.

Of course he is a snake -- why didn't he sign Manute Bol this season, that would have been a class act towards a NBA veteran who fully deserves it, in a moment of hardship for him.

It's easy sit out there and criticize when you're not the one being asked to build a championship-caliber NBA team. I'm sorry, but the proper way of extending charity is not through NBA contracts.

The thing that bugs me is that Leon got hurt because he was playing when he probably shouldn't have been playing.  He had a serious injury that he was battling through, showing up for the team.  Most likely he hurt the other knee from overcompensating.  It kind of bugged me because all we heard was that KG's injury wasn't that bad and maybe he would play.  But Leon played and KG never did.  And he wasn't rewarded for what I see as courage and loyalty.

I'd say that if KG had tried to play on a bad knee we wouldn't be where we are right now, we'd be in the middle of re-tooling.

They told the public that it was just a matter of his pain tolerance; that he could do no more damage.  Not saying I believe that, but that was the line.

What was Webber's reasoning?

I think Ray comes back, on a fairly generous two year deal.

Hell i'd give him 3

Po, i got your stance and point Bud, i just don't agree with it.

Quotes from leon Exposing some x behavior on Danny's part would perhaps make me reconsider, but as of now, i do not agree with your point that Leon was treated unfairly or that danny has a long history of alienating players and treating them like trash.

  • You know my methods, Watson.
Funny the difference a month or two makes...  Not long ago many here wanted to blow this ship up.  Now, we're wanting to sign aging players to long-term deals...

Well, I'll take the abuse & mockery and stand in the minority as saying signing Ray to a 3-year deal is NOT wise...

Still can't see him going.  Most teams won't offer more than the MLE, which means he'll either A) have to get some team that misses out on big free agents to give him a big 1 year deal or B) work a sign and trade.  In the case of A, I think Boston at least offers him enough in a 2 year deal to overshadow an impressive 1 year deal.  And in the case of B, I don't see who would really want Ray at much more than the MLE for much more than a year or two unless they were trying to dump a really bad contract.  And if that's the case, why would we want to make such a trade?

With KG around two more years and Ray really not holding the team back from doing much, I don't see why you don't bring him back.
