Sickening, but who cares? They can make all the excuses they want if the Celtics win the series.

  • You ain't the boss of the freakin' bedclothes.
If it turned out to be true after the series was over, I wouldn't be surprised.

For those who didn't follow the link, the guys over at Fear The Sword (SBNation Cavs Blog) have posted a rumor from a source that allegedly "has no reason to lie"

Quote
Lebron has a torn ligament in his elbow that should keep him out 6 to 8 weeks. He's trying to play through it and not complain, so the media doesn't know it's that serious. Before game 4 he had a shot in the elbow to numb it. You can only get the shot once every 10 days, so last night he couldn't do it.

It is unlinked, and unconfirmed.

I'm sure we'll find out the whole truth about whether this elbow thing is serious or not after the season is over.

What I found more surprising was this comment at the bottom of the page by one of the users who was upset with a Celtics fan who posted:

As I actually just said in my 'conspiracy' thread, I was thinking that Lebron's elbow was actually an issue last night.

It's still not an excuse and Celtic fans shouldn't be offended if it winds up being true.  It's not liek the Celtics are eeking out wins right now.  They are dominating the Cavs and playing great.

IF allegedly he got his shot the day of game 4, he's gotta wait til the 19th to get another

But in the same way, if he got it on the 9th, then he should've been 'good' (as in numb, not as in healthy) for game 5.

He may have a sore elbow but I can't see him fluctuating between all world and decent based on the games being 2 or 3 days apart.

It's possible - something's clearly wrong with LeBron, it wouldn't surprise me if the elbow was pretty bad and the Cavs were hushing it up.

Its not like the Celtics didn't do the exact same thing with Garnett.

My god, imagine if they SAT him on thursday? Dogs would meow. Cats would fetch. Rivers would burn.

Well actually Cleveland's rivers already burn.

God I love that video. I've watched it like 50 times. "we think this is art" and the guy's face. Geez. hahaaha.

This is the problem with all these excuses... it's the believe that something HAS to be wrong for LeBron to play poorly. Is it possible that something is actually wrong? Sure. But just as possible is that we as a defense are making uncomfortable. It's also quite possible that he's been settling for jumpers when he shouldn't be, something that he's been doing his whole career. Just as possible is that he had a bad game because he was out of rhythm.

For all the talk of taking only 3 shots in the first half, while he was in there he was quite active in the first half, when we closed on him he was very good at finding his teammates for buckets.

He had 7 assists, 4 of them coming in the 1st quarter. So he came to play, he was being active. He was also aggressive looking for rebounds. For all his lack of aggressiveness he still got to the line 10 times in the first half (some because of errors of our own).

So I don't think the mindset with which he came to the game was wrong. How he played through the rest of it was the problem when he started settling for jumpshots when he clearly was out of rhythm.

Wasn't elbowgame started when he was hesitant to take jumpers at all earlier in the series? So now he doesn't penetrate and just starts jacking up shots and it's because of the elbow again? Can we please make up our minds?

Now, it's all possible that the elbow is more serious than what we're being led to believe. But it's just as possible, that LeBron is just having some bad games and we don't have to find reasons or excuses for it... it's just how things are. Players go into funks, and LeBron has never been considered a great shooter, so when he's off he's REALLY off.

Actually, the way I interpretted the comment on the shot is that it only worked for a hort time but could only be used after 10 days. Which if he got it on the 7th (Game 5) means he could get it before a Game 7, if there is one

What people forget is that Lebron has sucked in the playoffs whenever a good defensive team gets determined to stop him.

In 08, he was atrocious in 6 out of 7 games. Was it the elbow back then, too? Lebron played great against the magic last year, so people forget that he has sucked in the playoffs for most of his career (that series against the pistons being the exception).

And the final thing that makes me sure this is BS is: I don't know, and no doctor I know knows of, any shot that can only be taken once every 10 days, but which have an effect that wears off before those 10 days.

Cortisone shots, anesthetics, etc. can all be given in shorter spans of time.
