This is the problem with all these excuses... it's the believe that something HAS to be wrong for LeBron to play poorly. Is it possible that something is actually wrong? Sure. But just as possible is that we as a defense are making uncomfortable. It's also quite possible that he's been settling for jumpers when he shouldn't be, something that he's been doing his whole career. Just as possible is that he had a bad game because he was out of rhythm.
For all the talk of taking only 3 shots in the first half, while he was in there he was quite active in the first half, when we closed on him he was very good at finding his teammates for buckets.
He had 7 assists, 4 of them coming in the 1st quarter. So he came to play, he was being active. He was also aggressive looking for rebounds. For all his lack of aggressiveness he still got to the line 10 times in the first half (some because of errors of our own).
So I don't think the mindset with which he came to the game was wrong. How he played through the rest of it was the problem when he started settling for jumpshots when he clearly was out of rhythm.
Wasn't elbowgame started when he was hesitant to take jumpers at all earlier in the series? So now he doesn't penetrate and just starts jacking up shots and it's because of the elbow again? Can we please make up our minds?
Now, it's all possible that the elbow is more serious than what we're being led to believe. But it's just as possible, that LeBron is just having some bad games and we don't have to find reasons or excuses for it... it's just how things are. Players go into funks, and LeBron has never been considered a great shooter, so when he's off he's REALLY off.
