With the exception of Chicago's picks today, all rosters up to date.

Again.

I think the Bucks are running away with the East.

The Western landscape is more balanced. I think the Jazz are slightly ahead of the pack though.

I like the Spurs against the Warriors and Grizzlies.

I think the Hornets and Blazers could go either way and I am undecided on Houston.

I think the Jazz have the Spurs number.

I see that Grizzlies are still on the fence about their coach.

This guy, for some reason, is still available.

Just so that you know the Jazz have three former MVPs on their roster. The only team with that as many as that. They also have 4 members of the NBA's 50 Greatest Players list, again the only team with an amount that high.

Nothing major. Just a couple little tidbits I thought you might like to know.

1990 Moses wasn't quite MVP caliber, though.  If anything, isn't he a bit of a question mark, having to swallow his pride and come off the bench?

Of course, almost every team has superstars coming off their bench, so the questions of role / chemistry are mitigated a bit.  I will say, though, that I like Dons strategy of grabbing all-time great role players in the late rounds.

A very good strategy indeed.

That said, given that every team is made up of multiple all-time greats, it is my opinion that that will severely limit the role of "chemistry" in these teams and hence limit the role of all time great role players.

I mean in this hypothetical league where an All-Time great is coming off the bench, if they are unhappy riding pine, what are they going to do, go to another team in this hypothetical league and start? Chances are they can't start on another team because every team is made up of all-time greats.

Do bench players complain of playing on recent Olympic teams or during All-Star games? They understand the dynamic of the team. I'm convinced all these players would understand the team dynamic and play their roles and if that is the case who is a better bench PF to have, Robert Horry(all-time great role player) at his very best or Elton Brand(all-time great player) at his very best?

Just something to think about.

And therein, Nick, lies my question(s)..I ended up trying to do everything thus far with my picks..starting out initially grabbing every defensive - minded player I could think of, then drifted away from that somewhat.

For me, too - Chemistry was a big issue, and I considered that single factor in nearly all of my picks, even to the detriment of passing up a player who may have had better stats.

At the end of the day, I tried to imagine my team (and other teams on here) potential success against one anoher, based on history and stats.

So at the end of this, there will essentially be three winners - Best Offensive Team, Best Defensive Team, and Best Overall Team, right?

Very Fun and Intuitive game, though...looking forward to you opening it up to the 80's next year, though.

Chemistry & compatability are two factors that have played a huge role in my drafting so far.  I want guys that will complement each other well rather than, necessarily, a team of all-stars.  We saw in recent Olympics and World Championships before '08 how a team of all-stars fares.  I pretty much took that philosophy and extended it here.  I want role players and guys who excelled at the very highest levels (Olympics & NBA Finals) but who also fit in and seem to know their roles.  From a matchup standpoint, I really don't think its going to hurt me because I can mix & match these guys to cater to whatever they're going up against.

My three cents.

And therein lies the question. How did the '08 Olympic Team and Dream Team and the team after the Dream Team succeed while so many others failed. To me it isn't quality of role player nearly as much as quality of character of the player that was the difference with those teams.

For that reason I tried like hell to fill my roster with the absolute best talent but stayed away from players(for the most part) that were head cases or locker room problems(Marion maybe the only exception) or were super ball dominant players. Almost every player on my team played with other superstars or on star laden teams and had to sacrifice their games accordingly at some point in their careers. To me that shows they are superstar level players that get "it" much like the players on the Dream and Redeem Teams were where so many other Olympic and World Championship teams weren't.

I also love Dons approach as well and think it works tremendously. I won't pick out any other team but there are teams that have multiple ball dominant players that have never been known to acquiesce to others. That will be a huge problem chemistry wise for those teams.

I had a very specific intent with the players I drafted.  The only one that didn't really fit in was my last pick Randolph and I just couldn't pass up his talent at that stage of the draft.  Hopefully, I'll do a good job of explaining the selections, as well as the years I'm choosing.
