Delonte couldn't guard Lebron.
Nor did I claim he could. I don't think Tony Allen can either btw.

Delonte is probably a worse matchup against Lebron than Tony Allen, but as a combo/3rd guard - that's not who he'd be defending.

You don't fix driving around on a motor cycle with a shotgun strapped to your back ala Mel Gibson in The Road Warrior.
Nor would I want to - that movie is freaking awesome!

I would love to have Delonte here.  He's exactly the type of tough, hustle player that's so important to have on a bench.  He's a great shooter and good defender, and he could play backup PG.  In other words, he'd fill the roles of both Eddie House and Tony Allen combined.

I miss Delonte.  I wish there had been a way we could have moved Tony in the Ray deal, but it just wasn't realistic.

One can't question the basketball sense behind having West. But the kid's got issues, and at some point this will come back to bite his team.

I said something to my friend along the same lines last night. Even after I thought he faked getting hit in the nose to draw a foul, I still wanted him back. (It was later pointed out to me that there was video evidence of DWest actually being hit in the face).

His position is basically the same as mine, can I get a "Brendan knows." post too?

delonte issues are extraseasonal
seems like they never affect team during regular season, nor playoffs.
Hes not even a distractor in the locker during basketball season
Do you see MVP night
they guy everyone loves with great chemistry carrying the camera and recording all the event
that was delonte
I am sure hes very well liked in the locker and his personal problems
( wich i am not saying dont exist) can be taken care of during offseason.

I love Delonte. He's a hard nosed tough player that shows up for big games. I was glad to get Ray but giving up West was a bummer. His contract has him in Cleveland for one more year then he he is a free agent in 11/12.

Would you be interested in signing Delonte in 11/12? What sort of contract would you offer? His current contract pays him 4.25 mil this year and 4.65 mil in 10/11.

I'm going to hold off on giving my opinion until we see what the ramifications of his actions on a motorcycle with 3 unlicensed guns LOADED is.

I don't know if this is true.  I am almost positive he missed a portion of the last two seasons dealing with his depression (or bipolar, or whatever it was).

And we all saw what risks come with a player who wrecklessly brandishes guns with both Gilbert Arenas, as well as numerous other athletes.

He is a good player, and may be a nice kid.  But he has a ton of red flags for anyone looking to give him millions of dollars.

Don't know why I remember this but at the combine Delonte measured a full 2" shorter than TA despite both being listed as 6'4"--so Tony can guard 1's, 2's and some 3's & Delonte is only really effective against 2's--he does not have the quickness to guard 1's nor the size to guard 3's.

I think.
Injuries and attitudes ( sheed) can make some players look a lot worst than him
I am not saying the kid is the next coming of 1992 danny manning
its just that people should be more objective when judging a gun incident
Of course i come from a country where everybody is armed and probably my
perspective is a LOT different than most of you.
but I wonder how many NBA athletes are gunned...and simply run without being noticed most of the times...

Look at what happened to Gilbert... the gun issue I just cannot ignore.

Not to mention that now he is a dirty Cav, and has been for a few years.  He is Lebrons little sidekick... I dont want him or anyone else from CLE on our team.  Maybe after the series against them I can have a more objective p.o.v.

Well, I think we need to separate the judgement of the person, and the judgement of a good investment of a basketball player.

I know nothing about him as a person.  He is not a bad person for carrying guns, or from suffering from a mental illness.

However, those things do make him a significant risk to sign to a guaranteed contract to play basketball.  It is basically the same as signing someone who has a long history of injuries.  You simply cannot count on him being on the floor, because he has shown that his personal problems have gotten in the way of that in the past.
