I think the Celts gave this away more than the Cavs beat them. Very reminiscent of alot of other games this season and incredibly frustrating to watch. We had this game and can have this series, no problem. However, we need to make adjustments. Here are mine, what are yours?

1. Match up specifics
Perk and Baby on Shaq -run the crap out of him
KG on Jamison
Baby and Sheldon for Varejo / Hickson
Rasheed for Iglauskus
Pierce and Marquis for LeBron
Rondo AND NATE for our point guards.
Ray adn TAllen normal.

2. Point is, Doc needs to go deeper into his rotation in this series, fight fire with fire. Cleveland is deep, but we have enough depth if Doc can manage it, manage the rotations >>which is MY MAIN CONCERN.

3. Pierce and Marquis should play more togther, with Marquis on LeBron. You should save Pierce's major minutes guarding LeBron until the second half. You don't have to cut Ray's minutes to do this.

4. Need to ask Perkins and Baby what's between their legs, girl stuff or boy stuff. Because those tow need to lay some people out. This is incredibly easy to do without getting techs or flagrants. But they need to questioned about their gender; because they are the two toughest, stongest guys on our team and they need to act like it. Every hit Rondo takes should be returned to Bron or Mo in kind and immediately.

5. I take Shelden and Rasheed aside, two guys we can live without if we had to for a game and I explain to them the role that Jungle Jim Luscatoff used to play. I then insert them where necessary.

6. I use Nate Robinson for two things: get Rondo slightly more rest early on in the game and to put more pressure on the D. I paly him with TAllen and either Pierce or Ray.

7. I explain to everyone in very clear words that the name of point guard on the team is Rajon Rondo and when he's in the game, I don't want to see anyone else tryign to run the offense, I want them moving, moving, moving, moving, moving, movning.

8. I hold a 20 minute meeting, in which I ask only one question repeatedly for the entire 20 minutes: If the team, as a whole, understands the meaning of defensive intensity and focus for a full 48 minutes. Once they answer yes, I ask again and so forht and so on for the 20 minutes. The I walk out of the room.

Bottom line, we should be crushing this Cavs team, they really are not THAT GOOD. We, like many games this year, gave it away.

Part of it was a lack of intense focus in the second half.
Part of it was a return to making real bone headed plays.
Part of it is that Doc is going to have to use more of his rotation to keep everyone fresh and he's going to have to use them corectly.

Shelden and Rasheed should be used as hammers if you want to protect key guys and Perk and Baby just need to tighten up the toughness around the board.

We do that and focus, we win going away in this series.
4-1 or 4-2, even from here, being down one game.

I would tell the team to be aggressive.  If anyone picks up six fouls they will be sitting.  If they do not play aggressive basketball, they will be sitting anyway.  Might as well go for it.  If the refs truly want to foul us out of the contest, they will.  Play good defense and attack the basket!  Don't be intimidated by either the other team or the refs.

not much Doc can do really. he keeps saying this team needs to finish...they need to not back off....they need to keep pushing. sooner or later the players need to understand that you can't stop playing in the third quarter. the cavs have killed boston in the second half all season. just frustrating to continue to watch this team play great first halves and then give it all back with pathetic second halves

Play Nate and tell him to shoot the ball to give a spark to the C's when they are in a rut.  And play Michael Finley more so he can hit some timely threes.

Other than that not much he can do.

Hilarious - laughed out loud for about 30 seconds.

exactly. Doc was right on top of this yesterday, just like he has been most of the year. it's on the players.

So...if Paul stops being aggressive sit him...Glen Davis, too...whomever.  If they don't get the message send them to the locker room!  If they want to be in at the end of the game they are only going to be there by being agressive.  If they lose you blame Doc or the players?.  Who cares!  If they win, who to credit?  Who Cares!  I think they have a beter chance of winning by putting in the effort, and I think the attitude would change from the top down.  Can't wait until the verge of elimination to try it...it should just be a given.

Agreed -- Rasheed is the only player I want Doc to be wary of matchup wise.

Nah, it's all on Doc.  He knows his starters lose intensity and momentum in the third quarter, yet he waits 'till the end of the quarter to sub, and then too many at once.  He needs to sub early and often, starting around the six minute mark, to keep the players fresh and hungry.

Hunger has nothing to do with it. Our guys are plenty hungry.

Our starters have to play better.

Here's the latest video from practice today, posted at the celtics youtube page:

Maybe they don't want to give away their game plan or anything, but is anyone else not overly enthused about their comments?

What else are they gonna say? That sounds about right to me.

I know its a shot in the dark but I was thinking today

What about a lineup assignment of

Perk/Baby on Shaq
Pierce on Anderson V
TA /Marquis on LeQueen
Ray on Parker
Rondo on Mo

I think part of Pauls struggle last game was he had to work his butt off to defend Lebron,  kind of like what we did to Dwade,  made him run on D so he was drained on the offensive side.  So putting him on Sideshow Bob  would make it a little easier,  their height isnt THAT different.  LeQueen is going to score his points regardless of who is on him,  so why not let Pierce have an easier assignment  to give him the energy to play offense

My adjustments-

1) Rasheed Wallace doesn't even dress. He gets Scal's place on the bench in street clothes.
2) Marquis Daniels doesn't play, unless everyone else fouls out.
3) Sheldon Williams and Scal get Wallace's minutes.
