I think the Celts gave this away more than the Cavs beat them. Very reminiscent of alot of other games this season and incredibly frustrating to watch. We had this game and can have this series, no problem. However, we need to make adjustments. Here are mine, what are yours?
1. Match up specifics
Perk and Baby on Shaq -run the crap out of him
KG on Jamison
Baby and Sheldon for Varejo / Hickson
Rasheed for Iglauskus
Pierce and Marquis for LeBron
Rondo AND NATE for our point guards.
Ray adn TAllen normal.
2. Point is, Doc needs to go deeper into his rotation in this series, fight fire with fire. Cleveland is deep, but we have enough depth if Doc can manage it, manage the rotations >>which is MY MAIN CONCERN.
3. Pierce and Marquis should play more togther, with Marquis on LeBron. You should save Pierce's major minutes guarding LeBron until the second half. You don't have to cut Ray's minutes to do this.
4. Need to ask Perkins and Baby what's between their legs, girl stuff or boy stuff. Because those tow need to lay some people out. This is incredibly easy to do without getting techs or flagrants. But they need to questioned about their gender; because they are the two toughest, stongest guys on our team and they need to act like it. Every hit Rondo takes should be returned to Bron or Mo in kind and immediately.
5. I take Shelden and Rasheed aside, two guys we can live without if we had to for a game and I explain to them the role that Jungle Jim Luscatoff used to play. I then insert them where necessary.
6. I use Nate Robinson for two things: get Rondo slightly more rest early on in the game and to put more pressure on the D. I paly him with TAllen and either Pierce or Ray.
7. I explain to everyone in very clear words that the name of point guard on the team is Rajon Rondo and when he's in the game, I don't want to see anyone else tryign to run the offense, I want them moving, moving, moving, moving, moving, movning.
8. I hold a 20 minute meeting, in which I ask only one question repeatedly for the entire 20 minutes: If the team, as a whole, understands the meaning of defensive intensity and focus for a full 48 minutes. Once they answer yes, I ask again and so forht and so on for the 20 minutes. The I walk out of the room.
Bottom line, we should be crushing this Cavs team, they really are not THAT GOOD. We, like many games this year, gave it away.
Part of it was a lack of intense focus in the second half.
Part of it was a return to making real bone headed plays.
Part of it is that Doc is going to have to use more of his rotation to keep everyone fresh and he's going to have to use them corectly.
Shelden and Rasheed should be used as hammers if you want to protect key guys and Perk and Baby just need to tighten up the toughness around the board.
We do that and focus, we win going away in this series.
4-1 or 4-2, even from here, being down one game.
