I guess I should be glad I couldn't watch the game live. I heard some of the calls where ghastly. Why does the top seeded team need help from the refs against the underdog?  I don't understand this robbing the poor to feed the rich mentality at all. All I can say is we better get some of this homecooking in Games 3 and 4.

Seconded. Except I wish I was with you in not watching it live ;)

Where were all you "the fix is in" guys in the first two games of the Miami series when teh Celtics took 55 foul shots and the Heat took 29?

Amen to that. Those green glasses sure get mighty tough to see through unless you are on the short end of the stick. There are many badly ref'd games, however that was not one of them. We gave it to them, not the refs.

Why would the NBA need to fix it for the better team to win the series? (Cavs/Celtics a heck of a lot closer than Celts/Heat) Nice try, though.

The refs didn't cost us this game.

We made really dumb turnovers in both the 1st half (could have stretched our lead) & 2nd half (during the process of losing our lead), these turnovers led to direct Cav's points.

Also, when we caused turnovers we couldn't get capitalize enough.

A rather high horse you are yelling that down from. We watched the game, saw an obvious bias that looked like it went further than home cooking and call attention to it. Get used to it. You honestly don't think that game was badly reffed? I only count one questionable call that went our way: Rondo's drive where Varejao didn't really touch him.

I guess you mean the DUMB turnovers, like when RONDO ran over a MOVING Mo Williams on his way to what should have been a 3 point play....no, the refs didn't matter.

Do the refs ever make bad calls in your world vinnie?

Guess you can't answer the question.

Just stop it. This thread is beyond absurd.

The officials had nothing to do with this loss. The loss belongs in the mirror of each and every Celtic, who weren't intelligent enough to stick with a game plan that worked TO THE LETTER in the first half.

We didn't deserve to win. Period. The officials had nothing whatsoever to do with it. The mods need to subtract 100 Tommy Points from anyone who even approaches agreement with the thesis of this thread.
Is there ever a loss in a close game that doesn't lead to someone starting a thread like this? Add the emotion of a playoff game, and this perception is amplified.

Yea, that only took 3 points off of our board and took Rondo off of the court for a huge 3 minute span in the 2nd half because of foul trouble. Not like it mattered, though. ;) (we were up 5 when Rondo went out of the game and then down 1 when he came back in) And I'm pretty sure Doc would've left him in for the entire second half. It seems to be the M.O. for these types of games.

The first game was evenly reffed from my perspective(Heat fans didn't have an issue with it either) and game 2 was a blowout. Maybe try barking up a different tree.

To those who have said that the celtics should have stuck to their game plan:

crashing the boards, harassing rebounders, and rondo being aggressive on offense are significantly harder when people have 4 or 5 fouls.

Ok Vinnie. In the first two games versus Miami, Boston went aggressively to the basket. They also had a nice advantage over Miami in points in the paint. Generally the team that does this gets more foul calls. Miami only has one player who really aggressively takes it to the basket (Wade), Haslem and Beasley tend to take jump shots limiting the amount of calls they receive and O'Neal couldn't buy a basket and he's Miami's best post player.

So care to answer my question?

Of course. If the Celts get more foul shots then the refs are doing a great job. Just wanted to get a clarification on that. Thanks.

Why would the NBA need to fix it for the better team to win the series? (Cavs/Celtics a heck of a lot closer than Celts/Heat) Nice try, though.
Translation: just assume whatever explanation is in the Celtics favor.

Or maybe it was not a "fix" during those Heat games because the phase of the moon was different in those games.

If we do the math, 4/5 seed seems a lot closer than 1/4 seed. 50 and 47 wins are a lot closer than 61/50 games. So it seems, based on dpapa's logic, the fix was during the Heat games vinnie mentioned.

To answer vinnie's question, the "fix is in" guys were posting on the Miami Heat forums during those losses.
