Eh, big deal if the Lakers get Bosh. Kobe (who is declining) and Gasol are the 2 guys to worry about on that team. And with them taking the majority of shots, Bosh would become less effective. Plus the Lakers need someone who's going to supply the beef, clog the middle and bang. Bynum is that guy.

In the end I think what they loose on size they gain in speed. What they loose on defense they gain on offense. Its a wash.

What would they have lost defensively?  Isn't it Bynums defense that most frustrates the Lakers?

And, we have had a front row seat to how three elite offensive players can combine and be more effective, even as each shoots less then that had when by themselves.

They complain because Bynum can be better. He has all the physical tools. However his length and size when paired with Gasol close down the interior mostly effectively. And then when it comes to matching up with other teams that have lumber: Howard, Shaq, Perkins, etc., Bynum is their best guy. Gasol is too finesse.

Kobe doesn't believe in less.  ;D

..and if one thought Bynum defense is a worry, Bosh is going to be worse.

Funny thing about that.

Gasol's defensive per is better then Bynum at the C position.

And Bosh's defensive per is 4 points  better then Gasol at the PF position (on a terrible defensive team)

So, it could be said there is a good chance the defense will improve.

Sure its possible. I trust my eyes way more than PERs though (especially when comparing lotto players vs title contender players). If the trade happens, we'll see what happens.  :)

This scenario does not make sense from one very important perspective, Bosh's.  Why would he want to go to an aging team that is already having some difficulty beating the Thunder.  If he asked my advise (which obviously no one ever does), I would advise against it.  Maybe his agent would like this because a sign and trade yields him the most money.

My prediction is that Bosh ends up in Miami with Wade and LeBron ends up in NY with Amare.  These guys are getting so much either way there is no reason to restrict yourself to sign and trade deals just to max out on $$$.

I also don't know how good of a move this is for the Lakers.  Bynam, although oft injured, brings a certain level of physicality to this team.  Gives them a 7ft presence inside on defense and a real post player on offense.
And what, Bynum is tough?!

Just because Bosh is not the perfect player that doesn't mean swapping him for Andrew Bynum is a good deal. I think the Raptors will be getting shafted if they do that -- Bynum is not the franchise cornerstone type at all.

But normally, it is shift to favor the player on the playoff team, not the player on the terrible lotto team.

(defensively.  It works the other way offensively where a guy can get more touches)

I don't think this report is credible.

Honestly, this is kind of good news IMO.  If Bosh goes to the Lakers, that means he cannot end up with Wade of Lebron.

It has looked to me that Kobe is on the downside of his career.  He has looked like he has lost something in the playoffs this year, and I think the amazing amount of minutes he has played has started to catch up with him, the same way they have caught up with KG.

Yeah, he is still one of the best in the league, but I see him declining over the next few years, while Wade, and certainly Lebron will still be getting better.

Not to mention, he would be going into the Western conference, which doesn't hurt the C's as much as if, say, Lebron and Bosh hooked up in NY or Miami.

Obviously, it sucks to see the Lakers get better, but as a Celtics fan, I prefer that over having a super power in the East.

The problem that I have with this is its the Lakers. Why can't 2 other superstars go to ANY team in the Western Conference that isn't LA??? Why is it the options are either NY, Mia in the East and no other team in Western Conference. If given my opinion, I'd love to see a team such as Phoenix hold onto Amare and get Wade - make the Western Conference tougher.

Why must these players make it harder in the East (especially for the C's)??? go to Phoenix, or OKC or Dallas. Go make it harder for Kobe!
For once it would be good to foil LA's run of dominance in the Western Conference - to me these Lakers are like the Yankees of the NBA; A sense of entitlement of winning every year!

Yeah, that is the major downside, but when I weigh having Bosh go to the Lakers (who are on the downside and out West), and going to a team in the East with Lebron (10 years of dominance, and have to face them 4 times a year), I choose the Lakers.

This is easily the best scenario for Toronto, but you are right: Bynum makes a lot of money for a long time. One quarter of good play every other game does not a franchise player make.

I say this is totally bogus. Like Bosh cares enough about Toronto to work out a sign and trade with them when he could just play in OKC next to Durant, Westbrook, and their overabundance of young rising talent. I call it now and have been saying this to friends and family for months: Bosh ends up with the Thunder.

You're wrong about this. If Bosh leaves Toronto, it'll be in a sign & trade.

Also, the Thunder is a longshot.

Not me.  After this current window, the Celtics aren't going to be contenders again for at least a few seasons.  They probably won't be directly competing with any Lebron super-team.

That being the case, I'd rather the Lakers stay right where they are in terms of total championships.  If they add Bosh, they could close the gap or catch us in total franchise championships.  There's no way I want to see that.
I agree with Roy.  If civilization as we know it crumbles and we have to eat each other to survive that's one thing. That would be a bad day.
But if the Yankees or the Lakers win another ring, that's entirely another

It makes sense from a Toronto roster perspective with Bargnani being a perimeter-oriented four. But I'm not sure they're as interested in getting Bynum as they are in trying to talk some team into taking Hedo along with Bosh.

I guess I just care more about the C's winning another championship in the next 10 years, than if the Lakers do, and I think pairing Lebron and Bosh makes that significantly harder on the C's, than putting Bosh on the Lakers.

That is a very good point that I will have to think about.

I guess I am just resigning myself to not being able to compete with the Cavs for a few years when/if we start rebuilding in the next year or so.

Plus, I feel bad for the city of Cleveland. They lost their jobs. They lost the Browns for years. They have to rewatch Craig Ehlo vs MJ forever. The Indians are the Indians. There are worse guys than LBJ and he's a local kid, so good for them
