Well, here's my 2 cents. I HATE the Lakers and Kobe more than anything in this world. Kobe is a doosh bag and so is that whole Laker team. I will not be able to bear the sight of them winning back to back championships, so I hope someone (ANYONE!) knocks them out.

As far as the Cavs go, I cannot stand Lebron. He is also a Doosh Bag. I also cannot stand his sidekick - "Sideshow" Verejao. Edited.  Profanity and masked profanity are against forum rules and may result in discipline. is up with his hair? He is just annoying and he's the guy who will likely be the most annoying for me when the C's play the Cavs in the next round. I also hate when Lebron does all that dancing B.S. on the sidelines while they constantly blare rap music at the Q during play. No other stadiums do that. Have some class.

Go Celtics!
I believe in God, Family, and The RED SOX!

I am not a Lebron hater. I am amazed at his basketball skill. He does whine, storming off the court last year was unacceptable, but who among us has not lost a game, then done something silly?

please keep in mind this kid came into the nba with the weight of the world on his shoulders. to me, he has accepted that responsibility very professionally on and off the court. he is competitive, and in a lot of ways, is a throwback. i remember reading where he did not like all the buddy/buddy stuff that goes on amongst opponents.

perfect? no. but i have no anger towards lebron, and trust me, will be pulling for him if he is going up against the lakers.

The Cavs are flawed. All the contenders this year have weaknesses. They should all be worried.

None of them come close to the Shaq Lakers, the Duncan in his prime Spurs or never mind the Bulls before that.

Which flaws should have them worried?  Honestly.  Not trying to be a punk, actually just want to chat

Shaq is slow - clogs the paint, and can't defend a pick and role very well. Mobile centers can get by him.

Varajao can't shoot from the outside (neither can Shaq)

The outside shooters tend to get cold. They are very streaky.

Cleveland still reverts to the Lebron iso. Obviously this mostly works, but it can have a compounding damaging effect when the outside shots aren't falling.

More so than any other team, the Cavs are one bad superstar injury away from becoming the worst team left in the playoffs.

Having said all of that, without a doubt, the Cavs are the favorites this year to win the whole thing. Lebron is the best player in the NBA and he is on a mission. Varajao has locked down the role as the Dennis Rodman-esque energy player.

Yet, you can't feel 100% secure about their chances. Or 90... or 75...

They have yet to prove that they can handle the Magic in the playoffs, or the Lakers for that matter.

Heck if you weren't just a little worried about the Celtics, you wouldn't be spending so much time on this blog with the second round still almost 2 weeks away.

I can't argue a whole lot with what you have said here.  I am pretty confident that the Cavs will make it through the East.  I am not aogant enough to say that they definitely will.  I think they match up very well with both the Celtics and the Magic this year.  I honestly think the East is theirs to lose.

As for why I hang out here so much?  This board tends to talk basketball a lot more than Cleveland boards.  There is one decent cleveland forum I go to, but it has a lot of worthless posts in it as well.  I also like talking about basketball with people who don't share the same opinion as me.

Match up well v.s Celtics  huh?
lets take a deeper look

Perkins vs. Shaq     Perkins has routinely dominated Shaq throughout his young career, given that Shaq is a clogger I give:
Advantage: Celtics

PF   Garnett  vs.  Jamison Garnett has very good outside shot still, and game 1 was evidence that he is feeling well in the knee again given the obnoxious amounts of oops and dunks he was throwing down, extremely positive sign. Rasheed,  cant give an answer on him because I dont know what the heck he is going to give to this team

Jamison   doesnt match up to KG, KG would still end up outplaying him to be honest.

SF  Pierce vs. LeQueen   -  Of course advantage to the Cavs there  yes he is a great player blah blah blah   but the fact is,  Pierce is fully capable of matching him any given game , as he did in 08,  Pierce is getting better as he goes on this season and not many in the NBA can say that. I give the advantage to Lebron  but give a half point to Pierce

SG-   Ray Allen vs. Parker

Parker is a good player..dont get me wrong,  but he is nowhere to the level of Ray Allen. I dont even need to type much more than that.

Pg. Rondo vs. Mo Williams     one of the most overrated point guards in the NBA is Mo Williams. He goes cold...often     he was nothing in Milw.  and is only hyped because of who is on his team, he has not progressed much as a player, changed his game, or really shown that he is a top 8 or 9  PG in the league.   Rondo on the other hand has shown that he is a dominant PG in the league, and if he is facing someone of his caliper he has always stepped up his game. He plays with a chip on his shoulder and I would take him anyday

Advantage : Celtics

So your starting 5 has 1 player better than the Celtics

How about Bench?

Celtics Bench:  Tony Allen, Rasheed Wallace, Nate Robinson, Marquis Daniels, Sheldon Williams, Glen Davis

Cavs Bench.  Varaclown , Moon, West, Z,Hickson, Gibson, Powe

Have to call that one a draw...  Tony Allens D is great...could be a stopper for Lebron and any offense he gives you is a plus. Same deal with Robinson  except any D he gives you is a plus. Sheldon and Davis are rebounders  much like Varaclown.   Moon is one dimensional, much like Rasheed (except different positions)  Daniels is slightly a better player than Gibson and West.

All I know is if I were Cleveland I would be rooting for Miami

openairmovie, even if all your analysis is true LeBron is so much better than Paul Pierce at this point that the Cavs are still favorites.

Not to mention Ray and KG's relative decline.

You know on paper the Celtics won 73 games this year and were the best defensive team in NBA history.

Listen I think the Celtics match up with the Cavs also but it is not as clear cut as you are making it out to be. The Cavs still have enough youth and energy to outwork us if we dont bring it every night. I think if we make it to the 2nd round, we will make it a series though and I give our boys a chance of beating the Cavs for sure.

OAM,

I want to agree with you so badly, but unfortunately the game isn't played by individual matchups, and Lebron makes the Cavs really, really scary.

My heart keeps telling me the C's will miraculously beat the Cavs in the next round, but then my brain chimes in (wearing a stained wife-beater shirt) and tells my heart to shut up and never speak unless spoken to.

It was the same deal in 08 when people said the Cavs were much better than the celts...said that despite us matching up well in other positions  Lebrons talent outweighs those matchups blah blah blah....same story  different year.  I was the only one that called that Cleveland wouldnt be in the finals last year....and Im calling it again this year. They arent as good as their record, period. The Celts face them in Round two , yes its a 7 game series, and I will take the Celts in that game 7 if I had money to bet on it ( I dont have that money because of the price of dang playoff tickets now!!!)

Honestly, I don't remember a lot of people predicting us to lose to the Cavs in 2008.  Last season, absolutely, and this year, it's been the same thing.  In 2008, though, I think most fans were more worried about the Pistons and Lakers.

I also hate when Lebron does all that dancing B.S. on the sidelines while they constantly blare rap music at the Q during play. No other stadiums do that. Have some class.

They have actually knocked this junk off during the playoffs

I noticed last night they stopped playing that stupid Godfather music after every Mo Williams basket - that was literally my least favorite thing about watching the Cavs play.  Good on them.

Oh yeah, that Godfather theme song wrecked my head whenever I watched the Cavs play. Gotta get rid of that permanently, it's awful.

I like LeBron.  He's the best player in the NBA.  I'm rooting for the Cavs once the Celtics get eliminated.  They are the only chance we have of Kobe losing.  The Cavs winning solves a couple things... #1 - LeBron is rightfully considered the greatest player in the NBA and will be well on his legacy of dominance... and #2 - Shaq gets another ring to rub in Kobe's face.

Pretty much anything that craps on Kobe and the Lakers... i'm all for.

Go Cavs

Honestly, the Kobe love can't get any worse.  If LeBron wins a ring, the Jordan comparisons will be even more frequent.  We won't be able to listen to any kind of NBA analysis without a reference to how LeBron is going to win a bunch of titles and he might be the greatest ever.

I really don't want to live through a Jordan-esque era.  The worst thing I can imagine is one team winning 6 championships in 8 years (unless it's the Celtics).

I would rather see Kobe win #5 than see LeBron win his first.

If LeBron took this ragtag group of losers to a title, the Jordan comparisons would not only be more frequent... they'd be relevant.  I'm sorry fellas, but I think you're all tripping hardcore.  LeBron James is absolutely incredible.  He's dominating this league.  If he won a championship, it would just make sense.  The guy should be the champion of the league considering how utterly incredible he is.  It will be tough for anyone to ever come close to the invincibility of Jordan in his prime.  Jordan was unquestionably the best player ever.   But I kinda have to agree with Bill SImmons that LeBron is some kind of hybrid Jordan/Magic/Bo Jackson enigma.    THe guy dropped 40, 8 and 8 the other night and it was just a ho-hum average game for the superstar.  This is his league.  The NBA has always been a league of superstars... If he won a title, it would feel right.

I hate Kobe... I hate the Lakers.  You guys should be ashamed of yourselves for wanting Kobe and the Lakers to win another title.  Just ashamed.  HOw can you call yourself Celtic fans and sit there and actively root for Kobe?  They are our arch rivals.  Sickening.  WIth that said, Kobe's a talented guy.  He's a poor man's Jordan.  He won 3 titles, because of Shaq and won 1 more last year, because KG was injured.   LeBron is better than Kobe.  LeBron's supporting cast is pathetic compared to Kobe's...   Bron might be a jerk, but I have no reason to hate him.  I'm 100% rooting for him to take out the Lakers once the Celtics get eliminated.

Note:  LeBron has missed 14 games in the last 3 years... his team has lost 13 of those games.  Those losers are nothing without him  (The Lakers were 6-3 when Kobe sat this year)... Basically, you replace LeBron with Paul Pierce... and you essentially have the 24 win 2007 Boston Celtics.   Have some respect for King James.

Its a generational thing man.... for my generation  the Lakers have given me no reason to hate them as much as I hate the cavs.  What the finals? We killed them...before the finals we were no competition to them during my lifetime.  If I came off and said OH I HATE THE LAKERS SO MUCH MORE   ..THAT would be the blind hatred we were mentioning earlier. Do I want them to win? No   but if I had a gun to my head   Lebron  winning or the Lakers winning.... I hate to say it but Id rather not see Lebron EVER win.

And your point about him deserving a championship because he is dominant  blah blah blah...thats nuts     Championship TEAMS are earned by a TEAM.   Celtics in 08 were a TEAM,  Lakers last year won it as a TEAM    the Heat did it,  San Antonio   ect .ect.   its a team performance  I dont think a team deserves a championship just because of one player... and if anyone says differently then they dont understand the whole idea of sports in the first place from when we all played as kids....TEAM FIRST
