So he stays in the floor while the stinger goes away and he gets carried out of the floor because a torn meniscus. Is that the best you guys can find as examples for Pierce being a drama queen when he gets hurt through his 12 years of basketball?

Exactly.....

This is what happens when we have 2 days break in between games. ;D

I wouldn't call him a drama queen. I think he over-reacted a little on Saturday, and I think he's done so in the past, but he's not a drama queen, and he does play through injury as much as anyone else.

The head bandage after a playoff loss to the pacers.

Yeah, that is his one, clear, drama queen moment in my eyes.

How long did it take to dig that one up? That bandage was meant to call out the refs....for not calling the obvious fouls. They'll slap you with a 25K or 35K fine if you utter a word against the zebras....that bandage was a clever way to get his point across, IMO.

It instantly comes to mind.  It's Paul Pierce looking for a little extra attention when the cameras are on.  I think the guy is super tough, but he is a little attention seeking at times during the playoffs.  He doesn't lay on the floor because he's wimpy, he does it for the attention.

That's wasn't being a drama queen. That was a tongue in cheek moment, him having fun with himself, and at the same time indirectly complaining to the referees. Come on, you can do better than that I think.

Yea, because being in every NBA playoff commercial and being a star on one of the best teams getting 40 minutes for the past few years isn't enough attention.

You're reaaaaacccccchinng.

That was an embarrasing moment.  The whole management team was furious with him after that.  Right after that, they seriously looked to trade him.  He almost got traded for the pick that became Chris Paul.

Be that as it may. Is not a the "drama queen" bit that is being discussed here. Here people are making him a drama queen because they're devaluing the amount of hurt he's feeling at the time. And it's partly his fault because he has shown a capability to play through a lot of pain, so his injuries suddenly become frivolous to an outside observer, when it shouldn't be.

I guess Pierce should've stayed in the locker room during the finals, just so that he could validate his injury.

It's still within the topic of Paul having some drama queen in him.

Well, I think you are going a little far to infer they were trying to trade him because of that incident.  They tried to trade him because that was a sweetheart deal (It also gave them a ton of cap space, because of Nick Van Exel's unguaranteed deal), and because Pierce had a string of incidents which made them think he was not the leaders they wanted to build around.

Anyways, I agree, that was an embarrasing moment (although I also agree with the others that it was meant as a joke, that was taken out of context).  But I still don't think that is the same thing as the times when he has overreacted to minor injuries.

Yeah but are you denying that he over-reacted a little bit on Saturday? Because to me that's kind of irrefutable. He might have been scared, and he might have been traumatized or whatever by his earlier shoulder injury..but I believe pretty firmly he could've stayed on his feet and walked it off.

Again, I'm not calling him a drama queen, if it was a 'stinger' as BC says, those things hurt...a lot. I'm just saying lets not confuse Paul Pierce with John McClane either. Guy can play though injuries as well as anyone else when he needs to, but when he feels like he's been hurt, he's not scared of getting a little floor wax on his jersey.

This is the problem I have with it, the staying on his feet part that you guys keep mentioning. Didn't you guys see first that he was unbalanced after passing the ball in an awkward angle. Secondly, didn't you guys see him trip with Q's or whomever's feet? Thirdly, didn't you guys see the shove that Q gave him afterwards as he was unbalanced?

He fell. So now we must exhort him to stand himself up while his shoulder/neck is going through a stinger?

Really, what's the big deal of him staying on the floor while the sensation passes? I still don't understand it.
