If the Sox ae looking at pitchers looks to me like Dice-K is on his way out.

Or they are trying to scare him into good behavior?  He's basically never been the same since pitching in the 2009 WBC.

and Beckett hasn't been the same since leading us to a world series championship. I think when pitchers go all out for too long a stretch, they need years to recover.

Some doubt in my mind why Jenks would come here to pitch the 7th. I fear that he might have signed knowing Paps is out the door

I doubt they are getting Fuentes.  I think he will find a bigger role (and more money) elsewhere.  My guess is Jenks is the back of the rotation guy they were looking for.  Now it will all be depth guys like Dinardo, and the other guy they signed yesterday.

Right but they need a lefty setup guy now that okajima is gone.  I don't think Dinardo is that guy, and I think Doubrant can be that guy, but I am not sure if he is yet.

I don't think they need a lefty "setup" guy.  They need a lefty specialist out of the bullpen to face lefty's, and I think Doubront could be that guy, or they could bring in someone cheaper.  But for real setup guys (who are expensive if they are not home grown), generally they don't go let-right, they just hand them the ball in the 7th or 8th, and tell them to get the outs.

All very good points, I think Jenks, Bard, P-bon with Doubrant mixed in there could be very effectgive

I'm hoping they sign Dan Wheeler.

Forgot about him.  he would be a great pickup at this point.  My inclination was the offer came off the table when they signed Jenks, but I hope I am wrong.  A bullpen with Wheeler, Bard, Jenks, and Papelbon on the back end (and potentially Dubront) would be about as good as you could ask for on paper.

Of course it is still a total crap shoot, but taking your chances with quality arms like that generally works better than more questionable ones.

I remember ast year thinking that the bullpen was dominant on paper.

Looks like this year I will feel the same way.

The Sox cant strike out 2 years in a row with their pen guys can they?
