all i know is that if the team is playing like crap or winning a title....i still watch, support, and root for the team.  i have done so since the 80s.  has this team frustrated the hell out of me and even disappointed me....hell yea.  but i will never say i wont watch them.  to do so only reinforces what mike bibby said about celtics fans a couple years ago that got everyone on these boards so upset about.  maybe he was right about *some* celtics fans.

i will never stop watching regardless of how they perform bc i love this team thru the good and bad....my blood is green....but again, thats just me.

agreed, I may think about becoming a fairweather blogger though, the intense negativity here is tough to read, it's just depressing really

Does that also mean that players who don't "show up" for games during the regular season aren't allowed to play in the playoffs either?

I'm still a fan of the Celtics whether I choose to watch every one of their games or not.

I'll still inevitably post around here some, just not as often because I won't be following the team as religiously as before.

I've just decided that being a true fan doesn't mean being a masochist.  If this team isn't going to take the regular season seriously then I'm not going to watch it.  

Why bother watching, anyway, when I already know what's going to happen in every game?  The past three months I've seen the same game played over and over again, with the same disappointing result.

As IP said, if being a true fan means watching the Celtics religiously even when I don't enjoy doing so, then I don't want to be a true fan.  I still want to watch the Celtics despite everything, but I decided after yesterday's game that it would be better for me if I didn't until the post-season.

From that, draw whatever conclusions that you will.

I'm a smidge fairweatherish so I'm really getting a kick out of these replies...

I shut yesterday's game off after the first quarter, because I could already tell that even if we won it would be in an unsatisfactory way, and I had things to take care of.  My sincerest condolences to people who sat through the whole thing. 

I don't plan on skipping any regular season games myself, but if someone's not enjoying the games anymore it doesn't make much sense to try to shame them into continuing to watch.  As important as we like to pretend the Celtics are, it's ultimately just entertainment.  If your entertainment is making you unhappy, then there are better ways to spend your free time.  Otherwise you risk becoming a bitter, angry fan who still cares about the team, but doesn't really get anything positive out of supporting them anymore.  Life's too short to spend your free time doing things that make you unhappy.

If you start watching a movie and you think it sucks, there's nothing wrong with shutting it off and doing something else.  Same with watching a basketball game.  See you in the playoffs PosImpos.

As fans we have opinions, but how many of us actually have a stake, aside from emotional, in any sports team?  The owners, staff, players, coaches, etc.  are the ones whose careers depend on results and I am sure they are looking for solutions.

season ticket holders do, imo.  they make a financial investment/commitment, which impacts the franchise.  i have spent thousands and thousands of dollars over the years

 
As have I...including League Pass and NBAtv in recent years.  I have also bought books, and gone to the movies (including some very bad ones).  However, my lifestyle and income level doesn't depend on the outcome of the season.  That is what I meant by vested interest...Yes it cost us money (our choice) but, to us, it is just entertainment (although you may quibble with my definition of "entertainment"    or not.  I do not believe the players are intentionally throwing away the season, and I do not believe Danny, Doc and the crew are done trying to find a solution to the problems.  I certainly do not believe the players are laying down and giving up on winning a championship this season.  Hopefully, with a healthy first team, things will right themselves.  When I say I have faith in this team it is not a religious faith.  It is a faith that everyone involved is working hard to win the Banner.

That's it for me.  I can't stand to watch this team anymore for the rest of the regular season.  I don't like the way watching the Celtics makes me feel.  I'm tired of being disgusted and disappointed.  Today was the last straw. 

I will be back for the post-season.  I may still post around here in the non-Celtics related forums.  But I have watched my last Celtics game of the 2009-2010 regular season.
