That's it for me.  I can't stand to watch this team anymore for the rest of the regular season.  I don't like the way watching the Celtics makes me feel.  I'm tired of being disgusted and disappointed.  Today was the last straw.

I will be back for the post-season.  I may still post around here in the non-Celtics related forums.  But I have watched my last Celtics game of the 2009-2010 regular season.

See you in April.

I feel the exact same way. I will watch the games if they are on, but only if there is nothing else to do.  No point in watching them if they are not going to at least try and make it worth my while.

Come on. It's not about playing poorly. It's about playing without heart and effort. People were much happier with the effort of our terrible teams pre-07-08 than they were with this one and I think it's reasonable to expect professional athletes to bust their behinds when they are on the floor, no matter who/where the opponent.

It's not fun to see the Celtics go through these issues, but I'll still be there through thick and thin like I always have. It makes the good times that much better!

i will always support the celtics, and I will always be a fan of them.  but i DON'T have to watch them when they play like they have recently.  i DON'T have to subject myself to that.  fandom isn't synonymous with masochism.

you haven't been watching the celtics throughout this season (like i have) if you would characterize this team's issues as "some struggles."  it's far more than "some struggles."  it's a painful, ongoing, never-changing narrative of mediocrity and disappointment.

i realized today that the celtics are just going to put me through the same loops over and over again throughout the regular season.  we've all talked about and read the same negative things about the team, and they clearly haven't responded.  i'm tired of it, and i don't need it.  at this point i'm just hoping the playoffs will be different.

i will start watching the celtics again in the playoffs when the games matter...hopefully the team will treat them like them matter.  they certainly haven't done that recently.

EXACTLY.

you sound like you weren't a fan of us for the decade plus when we were mediocre. this new big 3 era seems to have gotten people spoiled. expecting us to win like we did that season, and giving up on the team when we don't.

sounds a smidge fairweatherish to me. if you're gonna just take a sabbatical from the team because we re losing, you don't deserve to watch when we re winning.

People, he just said he's not watching them because of way it makes him feel after the games. No problem at all with that if its effecting you, then take a break from viewing.  Basketball is simply entertainment, unless you're the one getting paid to play, then its your job.  I haven't nearly watched as much of the Celtics as I have in past years, because I get the same way and feel down and disappointed.  Doesn't make me any less of a fan.  I've been a fan of the Celtics for many years now, so not watching them now as much isn't making me any less dedicated as a fan then I have been in years past.

See you come playoff time PosImpos.  :)

  • You ain't the boss of the freakin' bedclothes.
The other night when we lost to Cleveland, I stopped watching and turned on "Psych" because I was so sick of watching a team that was competing at roughly 50% the level of the opposing team. I don't blame PosImpos for not wanting to watch any more regular season games. And I don't think it's right to question whether or not he likes a team that is 26 million dollars over the salary cap but still managed to lose TO THE FREAKING NETS.

If being a fan mans seeing the alleged "game" the Celtics played today then looking my TV in the eye and saying "Buck up fellas, it's all gonna get better", well than you can keep it. Call me fairweather. I'm sick of making excuses for this team and putting my hopes on some cookies and ice cream future fantasy where suddenly they're going to "pull it together" with 25 games or something left in the season.

I said the same thing PosImpos said today but I know I will end up watching the games, because it's just what I do. I bet it's probably the same for him. But to see the teams' play today, and pretty much since christmas and not be completely disgusted doesn't make you a diehard fan. I think in a lot of ways it means you're not acknowledging the truth out there on the court. The proof is in the boxscores, guys.

I'm not alone either. Garden booed today. Garden booed against Cleveland too (although I didn't notice it during the game). Garden must be a 'smidge fairweaterish'.

I kind of agree with the OP. For example, when I want to play basketball and I can really feel it, I don't let anybody get past me when I'm on defense. But when somebody invites me to play when I didn't intend to do so, even fat guys will dominate me. And the latter is the case with the Celtics... for the regular season. The playoffs is a different story, and by the way, we can "improve" our pick position - and since we are tied up salary-wise, we need the pick to contribute (anti-Giddens). I wouldn't look too much into the regular season right now. Even a loss against the Nets doesn't impress me.

I'm a pushover when  it comes to the C's. I always watch them until  the final whistle blows whether they are down by 30 or up by 30, whether they are the worst team in the league or the best team.

This Celtics team isn't playing bad on purpose. They have a bunch of issues. It's partially their fault but it's not like they can just do one thing and they will magically start winning every game. I don't think they are enjoying this any more than we are but I'm sure they are going to try and go out and improve and get better as much as they can. If they end up not being as good as we thought it's not their fault.
