Says who? I am getting tired of hearing all this stuff about how we can't sign a max free agent. Didn't Wyc come out and last year that the C's would be players in the 2010 Offseason?
I would think the president of the Celtics might know a little more than posters on this blog.
This has been explained to you multiple times. There's a contract in place between the player's union and the teams, called the Collective Bargaining Agreement. It sets certain rules, including rules about how much teams can and can't pay free agents.

Wyc said there was a "scenario" where the team could get under the cap. Since that time, we've signed multiple players (Rasheed, BBD, and Rondo), effectively making what was a very unlikely scenario impossible.
It's surprising to me that you're willing to call literally hundreds of members of this blog wrong -- especially after this has been explained to you probably a dozen times -- without doing even a modicum of research.
The Celtics can't sign a free agent to a maximum contract as their roster is presently constructed. Even if every pending free agent on the team -- including Paul Pierce -- was let go, we still wouldn't have the necessary cap space. If we're going to get a big free agent, it will be via sign-and-trade, which probably means that Rondo will be on his way out of Boston. I don't see that happening.
Why do you think New York just spent so much time trying to clear cap space to sign Lebron, if you think it's irrelevant? The reason is because there's a salary cap, and only teams with cap space can sign free agents to certain contracts.
