Mark Cuban is a horrible owner and every time I hear him talk he sounds like a dolt. I'm quite happy with passing on overrated overpaid garbage if DA thought they wouldn't help.

I think that's the issue though. We'll never know what Danny thought of the available players and if they could help and be worth the plunge. I know it's only my opinion, but I think Danny was substantially handcuffed by the owners.

If Ray was traded for a serviceable replacement. we likely wouldn't have signed him or signed him at a substantial discount. Nate may come back, but that's debatable. I would have been happy if we spent the same amount of $$ as this year or slightly above, but if ownership thinks we have no shot, or not enough of a shot to invest more money in, I understand it, but I don't like it.

None of this changes the fact that they are NOT cutting payroll substantially like you said.

With RA, Nate, TA, BS, MD, SW (did I miss anybody?) all coming off the books and only RRs contract differential and the incremental raises (if any) for KG and PP and Perk and assuming Nate and MD are given the whole MLE and paying the minimum for the rest still saves $$$, although your point of a lower cap>>higher lux tax that may offset some of it is well taken. Still gotta think they're saving $$$$, though.

You don't suppose they will resign any of those players do you?

By this logic the red sox selfishly cut payroll every october, since there is a 2 month period where everyone is not under contract.
Unfortunately, we have fans jumping to conclusions about next season based on no evidence.

I don't think anyone is trying to deny you your opinion or the fact that it may be valid, people just want more proof than

"because i say it is" before they debate anything.

Wyc 1 NBA Championship

Marc Cuban
Cuban is great. His team has been solid for a long time now. He is willing to lose money for the sake of winning, but learned from his first few years that throwing money at the team doesn't work in the NBA.

I am glad Cuban has calmed down and has stopped picking fights with Stern all the time, but I would love to have him as an owner so long as he keeps some distance during games. (Not that I don't think our owners are also great)

I think I accounted for Nate/MD with MLE, which, I think is the only way we can sign them and that accounts for the full MLE $$. Scal, I hope not. SW won't get more than he's getting and TA will likely get less. RA maybe but only at a huge discount. Still seems like less $$.

I don't want to be a troll or anything, but fans with the attitude of the original poster fully deserve a franchise owned by Paul Gaston.

looks like danny did his best to move ray

from herald:

This trade also means that Ray Allen gets to remain a Celtic, though the team looked into a wide array of potentially big deals using the veteran guard’s expiring max contract as bait.

A team source said that the Cs looked into acquiring Phoenix forward Amar’e Stoudemire, for instance. Management also looked into possible trades for Utah’s Carlos Boozer, Miami’s Michael Beasley, Philadelphia’s Andre Iguodala and Golden State’s Monta Ellis.

Well, those were the right targets.  I wonder why none of those deals came to fruition. I find it very curious that neither GS nor Philly did anything at the deadline.

I'm disappointed that nothing was done, but it's too early to assess blame.  My guess is that yes,  management was reluctant to spend, but it is still only a guess.

my guess is danny really wanted a lot for ray (might be too much). i think danny feels ray is still an all star player...maybe he felt respect for ray..

My belief is that if DA had Ellis or one of the other young players available for what we had to give he would have made the trade.  That just my opinion with no facts.  Since he didn't make a move it's time to close ranks and hope for KG to get healthier and the team get out of their funk.

Let's beat LA tonight and see how things go from there.

I don't think Ainge lets emotions get in the way at all. A more plausible explanation is that he couldn't get a desirable player without also taking on a bad contract, e.g. Nocioni.

He keeps his distance now?  Maybe I was a bit harsh but, I always thought that was bush league the way he called out Stern and was so vocal in the crowd.  I mean come on you're an owner act like it.  Wasn't it just last year he got into it was Kmart?  I guess I really doesn't matter I'll make sure to check out if he's started showing some class in the stands.
