He still thinks some kind of Ray deal will happen. And he's almost certain that the Cs will make a move (Ray or otherwise).

On Ray, he is still looking at the Ray for Kevin Martin + Nocioni type package.

A package that I am not entirely opposed to. In terms of roles, KM could step in pretty neatly to the starting lineup. Probably the least shake up rotation-wise of all the moves out there...

For those who didn't see it, very simply, Chris Mannix of SI was on First Take and when asked about Boston basically said:

-There are rumors from league executives that the Celtics could deal Ray Allen for Martin + Nocioni. He said Kings want to build around Tyreke Evans, not Martin, so we have a chance to get Martin after all. Yay.  :)

-Celtics and Lakers "are both after Kirk Hinrich hard right now". For us, possibly a minor trade (Mannix threw out Scal, TA and picks for examples of the level of guys we're looking to trade for Hinrich...but interestingly enough, he didn't mention what the Lakers could give the Bulls for Hinrich, is this a sign we have an advantage?)

Anyways, you can go see the video yourself at http://espn.go.com/video/clip?id=4915690

And since I have nothing else better to do (ok cover letter for mock interview in about 10 days, whatever) before I go back to college (Presidents' Day ftw), I put up a poll concerning whether you'd do trade that would bring all three players in question (Martin + Nocioni, Hinrich).

Well...I'd do both. I've been high on Martin for a while, and Nocioni has a nice wing off the bench sweetens that deal.

And if we could trade more players for Hinrich, that gives Nocioni more time to play, since earlier in the season too little minutes for a lot of guys that deserve more was seen as an issue when we just wanted to trade for Nocioni. That, and we get a backup PG.

Interesting, thanks for the transcript!

I would do the Martin + Nocioni deal for Ray in a heartbeat if Ray was bought out... otherwise I don't know if I would do it, Martin is really too injury prone and I just can't accept the fact that we could deal Ray without getting him back at some point.

Also, I would like us to get Hinrich but I just don't see the owners dealing for both Nocioni's contract and Hinrich's. It will be one of them but not both in my opinion... I wouldn't be surprised, if the Martin + Nocioni deal was made, to see Baby traded for Augustin. Then you would have Augustin/TA/Marquis for the first 3 spots, and Nocioni playing at power forward, with Sheed at center.

Getting both Hinrich and Nocioni would be great for our bench and if the owners did it they truly would have made the best they can to improve this team but I don't see them taking both terrible contracts and I can't blame them.

Also, concerning the Lakers, the only way they could get Hinrich is probably in a three team deal and it looks like they are trying to get it done, according to ESPN's latest report :

Quote
Did the Lakers offer guard Sasha Vujacic to Portland? According to Yahoo! Sports, the Blazers were saying over the weekend that they had a chance to land Vujacic.

One eastern executive was wondering if this could be part of a three-team trade with Lakers, Blazers and Bulls, which would send Tyrus Thomas and Vujacic to the Northwest, Kirk Hinrich to the Lakers and Adam Morrison and players from Portland to the Bulls.

"What has, or will kill this," one GM told the website, "is that Portland just won't take Vujacic on."

I just don't see why Portland would take Vujacic, even if it lands them Thomas... the guy plain sucks and he makes 5,5 million this season and the next. So I don't see the Lakers getting Hinrich because they don't have as much expirings as we have or as other teams have but we will see.

I didn't get the impression that both deals was an option...It was more like if Ray deals don't come to fruition then side deals like one for Hinrich could be the way it we go...

Adding KM, Nocioni, Hinrich salaries for next season would be a huge money investment.

I'd more interested in Sheed for Nazr and Augustin than getting Hinrich if a KM/Noci deal went down...

Also very good chance Ray is bought out in Sac town and returns to the team after a nice thirty day rejuvination period. It makes no sense for Sacramento to keep Ray and more so for Ray to want to finish one of his last seasons in the NBA on non-contending team.

I hope the Martin for Ray deal comes.

I think Baby for DJ is the better deal for the Celtics right now just because of contracts.

But if the owner is willing to pay for all of it, I have no issue with a Hinrich, House, Daniels, Noccioni, Wallace bench.

so a SAC + CHA move could get us to:

Rondo
KM
Paul
KG
Perk

Augustin
House
Daniels
Nocioni
Baby
Nazr

That's actually not that bad. DJ would be a huge wild card. How good is he? Could he step in and be a real scoring threat off the bench...

I do not want to give up Wallace in this type of deal.

Has he underplayed?  Yes.

But has he shown teases of what he could provide this team in the playoffs?  Of yes.  And that's why you need him.

Agreed. He has proven in a few games that he can easily be our best post up player on the team. The only problem is keeping him in the post...

Wallace isn't going to be traded because Wallace probably flat-out wouldn't report to Charlotte or Sacramento, and if he did he would quickly make the team's life miserable.

Plus, does anyone else think he might put the hoodoo curse on the Celtics out of spite?

Still think Wallace will do his best Robert Horry impression and be a major factor in the playoffs. Don't want to part with that!
