I just don't get how there's any heat to this rumor.

Why does Sacto essentially give away a talent like Martin for payroll relief? He's worth much more than that.

Yes to martin/Nocioni if Allen can return in green.
No to Hinrich, since next year will have  too much space to bring in strong guys.

if you mean summer 2010 we will not have the cap space to sign any big contracts.
someone correct me if i'm wrong but, because of the salary cap aren't we pretty much limited to the MLE this offseason?

that is why using ray's big expiring this deadline is so important to the team's future. we have to try and trade for a younger impact player.

Really? The guys who own the Palms Resort in Vegas are nearly bankrupt? Somehow, I think that's not quite true.

I was talking about chicago  bulls.
If we take some of their big contracts, next year they could become a problem.

ok, makes sense. but next year we are not going to be a problem for anyone unless we get more talent now. hinrich can run the offense, play the 2, defend 3 positions, eat live bees and is as good a back up point as we could hope for.

I am very against trading sheed to charlotte. Come playoff time were going to need length. Also, he provides match up problems and can knock down big shots.

mark my word: WHEN THE PLAYOFFS START, WE WILL SEE A DIFFERENT RASHEED WALLACE.

and on a secondary note, if the BOS-SAC trade goes down, can Nocioni play the 4? I've always thought of him as a wing player. Maybe we can find a way for them to part with Brockman, who is a legit beast.

Ray, Tony, 1st for nocioni, martin, & brockman?

ray's great, good man, knows the system, he is also 34 years old and at the end of his contract. we may be able to use the MLE to resign him next year but his best days are behind him. and if we do we will have little els to work with to fill out the roster. martin, like ray is a pure shooter who would slide right into rays role on O. he is also much younger and under contract so we will be able to use the MLE to bring in another rotation guy (maybe even ray).

no comment on sheed, but if i recall, Nocioni can guard quick 4's. on o he forces oposing 4's out of the paint with his jumper, opening lanes for rondo and others.imo at the very least he would fill scal's role (guarding big 3's and quick 4's but would would be far more effective.

I hope the Martin for Ray deal comes.

I think Baby for DJ is the better deal for the Celtics right now just because of contracts.

But if the owner is willing to pay for all of it, I have no issue with a Hinrich, House, Daniels, Noccioni, Wallace bench.

amen to all that.

Ditto.

Next year might be tight salary wise but with Hinrich, Nocioni, BBD and Sheed, that's the best bench of any contender.  A starting line-up of Rondo, Martin, PP, KG and Perk.  wow.  how can they not pull the trigger on that IF AND ONLY IF they can swing both deals.  With that top 9, you can afford to go a little cheaper on the rest of the roster with vet mins and only spending part of the MLE.  Hell, if they want to bring back Ray for the MLE at that point, the bench would be better than a number of starting units in the league.  That team could seriously run the table through KG and Sheed's contracts barring a crippling injury to KG and even then they're still contenders.

Again, all depending on swinging both deals and Wyc agreeing to cut the checks.

Jerry Buss is already spending an obscene amount of money on the Lake show, but Hinrich, Kobe, Artest and Odom could play some intense 4th quarter D.  But they wouldn't be able to afford any kind of a bench after that move.

I'd do Hinrich for expirings.  I like the Hinrich/Daniels backcourt.  A lot of scrappy versatility between the two of them.  Hinrich would definitely have to bring his FG% up though.

Martin/Nocioni for Ray is a no-brainer.  Nocioni's contract isn't pretty, but Martin's is beautiful.  Health risks be danged: Martin would replace Ray's shooting while adding more athleticism and far superior slashing ability. He'd also fit Rondo like a glove: he can get out on the break, finish oops, hit transition 3s and finish kick-outs.  Nocioni would do what Scal does twice as well at twice the price, meaning he'd still be overpaid, but he can pass as the 9th man in a rotation.

Couldn't do both trades though.  We couldn't get away with paying Hinrich, Wallace and Nocioni over 20 mil combined, especially with our starters set to make about 65 mil next season and Perk's extension looming.
