One of my favorite players in the NBA that I believe is underrated.  He's not the "greatest" player out there, and probably not the flashiest name, but I'd love for Danny and Larry to swing a deal.

He's averaging 14 pts and 10 rebs this year, and is a nice shooter that would fit doc's offense, which often pulls bigs away from the rim.  He can extend the defense as he's a near .400 shooter from 3 point range.

His name is never mentioned with the Celtics, but one would have to think he's available.  Might take a 3rd team to get the salaries to matchup (I believe his contract is just shy of 12 million)...

Anyone else like this guy?

Murphy is a roll player at best, does nothing for this team

Great rebounder, great shooter, good passer for a big ... heck of a complementary piece, but a complementary piece ... not sure he fits with the identity of this team, not luck he would with Cleveland, where they just need guys to hit those wide open three point shots LeBron creates for everyone.

Danny's not going to get a "star" player...mark it down.  Who wouldn't love having Troy Murphy coming off the bench as the 6th man?  This wouldn't be the only move that Danny would make, but a very solid one...

He's younger than Jamison (by 3 years, I believe) and his contract only runs for one more season after this one.  Plus, if you believe some of the chatter here (which I don't - but I'll play along) - IF KG is on the downside, I'd rather have Murphy out there than Baby Huey or Scalabrick...

How can you not believe KG is on the down side ? He can't jump or move laterally, is coming off knee surgery at age 34 and has played over 40000 mins. He is not a dominant player anymore or even all-star caliber....

i should have clarified (i'm reading too many posts at the same time and hurrying through them)...

by "downside" i meant the people that are already writing his obituary.  yes, his career is on the slide, but it's not over, as some are presuming.  Murphy would be a nice addition to 1) prolong KG's career, and 2) provide that solid "role player" that plays 28 minutes a game in the infamous 6th Man role that Red created...

Troy Murphy is the kind of player who get solid stats but doesn't really impact the game.

If we could get Murphy for our expiring(besides ray) and maybe a pick, I would be all for it. I wouldn't give up anything besides expirings and picks. He is a role player

I completely agree.  I like the version of Ray/BBD for Murphy/Ford/Dahntay Jones.

It's a lot of money to take on, but I think we get much, much more talent than we give up, while addressing all areas of need:

-A very solid true backup PG (if overpriced)

-More length at PF.  Best 4 man rotation of bigs in the league with KG/Sheed/Perk/Murphy, so everyone can bust nuts for 24 minutes/game, right?

-Defensive wing to rotate with Daniels and Pierce.

Murhpy and TJ Ford expire after next year, and D.Jones is relatively cheap, so it fits the "window" without giving up any pieces to rebuild beyond it, unless anyone thinks BBD is more than a role player.

Rondo/Ford
D.Jones/Daniels..........House/Giddens
Pierce/Daniels again.....TA/Walker
KG/Murphy................Scal
Perk/Sheed...............S.Williams

this is what i was thinking...  danny's not going to get (in my opinion) a starting / impact player.  so the best plan of attack would be to add pieces to this roster that provide depth so the starters can lessen their minutes and be rested for the 4th quarter, which seems to be our downfall.

it's a trade like this that makes more sense because danny will learn that there are no "high impact" players out there for what he has to offer...

seriously?

yep...because danny will wimp out and do nothing.  so he might as well target a couple role players...

He's not my first choice but he would be helpful.  Very good rebounder and 3pt shooter- the opposite of Wallace.
