(and a blub in RealGM suggests that they are) I would prefer Ray for Ellis and Biedrins to the rumored deal with Washington for Butler and Jamison.

I wouldn't do this trade for the simple fact that Biendrins (Center) makes Rondo look like Calvin Murphy at the FT line.

Just bring in Ellis.

If they couldn't get Ellis for Ray, why would they be able to get Ellis AND Biedrins for him?

I guess I would too seeing as how they are far younger. But they're both kind of injury prone and we have enough problems with that.

Granted Butler gets hurt too

Yes, Biedrins has his flaws (free throw shooting) but I've always liked him.  Hard-nosed player.

The Warriors will do whatever Larry Ellison's accountants want them to do, which means that both Ellis and Biedrins are probably on the block.

I am sure most of us would.  I would throw Perk into that mix as well.

However, I don't think the Warriors do that.  They want to get talent, and to get rid of their bad contracts, not to give away productive players for nothing.

If it took Perk to get this deal done (which I have no idea of what the financial structure of this looks like) I'd happily package him in this deal as well.  He plays like Perk, minus the stupid technical fouls, and also brings a nice low-post game...

They are younger but they have longer contracts too (bad contracts).

I think they will make it more difficult to rebuild once KG + Pierce are done.

KG and Pierce won't be done for a few more years.  It's not like they're on life-support.  There's still a lot of decent basketball left in their tanks.  But they're going to need a supporting cast around them, and this deal would help.

Are we sure Biedrins will do well on a team that doesn't play small ball all the time?  In most lineups he's the only player over 6'9''

If the point of the deal is to supply additional talent = fine. I like Biedrins as a backup big.

If the point of the deal is to supply future building blocks = I don't like it

I would assume that Pierce + Garnett are finished as elite players by 2012/13 ... at which point the Celtics would have Rondo + Ellis + Biedrins as the core to their team. I don't like the idea of building around that core.

If the Celtics acquired Biedrins he would be the starter and Perkins would be the backup.

I would rather start Perkins. I don't like Biedrins' defensive play.

Really?? Biedrins is all about defense. I guess he has a little bit of the Camby thing going on with big defensive stats, but I think he plays better post defense than Camby. I was under the impression that Biedrins was primarily a defensive player who wasn't horrible at offense.
