I'd be more inclined to keep Deng and build around a foursome of Derrick Rose + max contract + Luol Deng + Joakim Noah.

But I can see the temptation in wanting to remove Deng from the picture and trying to sign two max contract players. If it worked out, it would be the better option.

The ideal would be to target a package of Deng and Hinrich. This combo would mean CHI would be in the market for two powerhouse FAs.

The problem with that strategy is two-fold. If they miss out on the prime FAs they look silly. Plus, Deng, unfortunately, is playing some of the best basketball of his career right now.

CHI is going to be hard pressed to gamble on the FA market with Deng playing the way he is.    And if they are able to move Hinrich and Salmons, they still will be able to make a big move for Wade. Rose, Wade, Deng, Noah is a pretty strong starting five.

The complicating factor is this: Does Wade think that Rose, Wade, and Deng is a Title team. He might want to go to a better situation. One where he teams up with Bosh, for instance. and if that's the case, then CHI might be well advised to clear enough room to get two max FAs...

The landscape of this is very difficult to figure. But it sure is fun!

Anyway, long story short. I'm not ready to part with Ray, but getting Deng AND Hinrich would make a ton of sense for the Cs. They would have to do that deal and risk chemistry problems.

Rondo
Paul
Deng
KG
Perk

Hinrich
House
Daniels
Baby
Sheed

That's a Title team in terms of talent. They would have to do a crash course to get the chemistry right, however....

It would solve ALL our problems moving forward, though....

before you assume they won't move deng, consider this:

the bulls would have only 20mil in salaries this summer if they do this trade, then tell tyrus thomas to take a hike, including the following players: rose, heinrich, noah, james johnson and taj gibson. they'd also have ray's bird rights if they decided not to renounce them after signing a guy like bosh. wow.

guys like lebron, wade, bosh, jj and stat would be all over chicago.

Put LeBron or Wade on that team and they're still not a contender.

I disagree -- rose is by far the best player either has come across in their careers, aside from  wade's time with shaq when they won a championship. Now imagine having one of them AND  joe johnson or chris bosh or amare stoudemire. immediate contender.

paul pierce should not be playing shooting guard at this stage in his career. he can't be chasing around ben gordon type guys.

I agree with you spence...If CHI was able to add Wade and Bosh to Rose, Noah, and Gibson, they would be instant contenders...

the problem is how much of a gamble it would be to go after those guys. hey, maybe there is more behind the scenes talk than we know and teams are starting to already know who wants to go where...

anyway, Hinrich and Deng would have us well setup for the future if we were able to swing it.

eh, I kinda agree with you, but our team defense would be REALLY good. Deng and Hinrich are both solid, solid defenders...

I'm of the mind that ownership would be unlikely to sign up for BOTH Deng and Hinrich. But -- regardless of whether it's Salmons or Heinrich with Deng -- there's a lot of versatility at the 2 and 3 to work with, especially considering the fact that Deng can play the 4 in small ball line-ups against "stretch 4s" like Rashard Lewis.

Ben Gordon is irrelevant anyway. Dumars has screwed that team -- royally.

although i like ray ray a lot...but moving ray to chicago for deng might be very good..as much of the above already said...he plays better defense and can score...can guard the likes of lebron and kobe better than ray allen will...hinrich may provide backup pg for rondo...

and just imagine chicago not wanting ray for the summer...ray allen comes back off the bench...wont that be interesting =P
