for both teams. Yeah I could find a trade with D-wade or Joe Johnson or whoever in which the other team gets robbed but this trade right here fulfills all the requirements for both sides.
(BTW if I seem cynical throughtout this its because the idea of trading Ray disgusts me personally but this is the best way I can find to do it)
http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=ykt6emlSacramento gets:
Ray Allen
Brian Scalabrine
Boston gets
Kevin Martin
Francisco Garcia
Kenny Thomas
0R substitute Nocioni (for those of you who are so in love with him, but Garcia is younger and has a more palatable contract) and it still works
Why for Sacramento:
Martin, Thomas, Garcia, nor Nocioni for that matter are in Sacramento's future plans. Any way you slice it they get out from under these long term contracts for players they don't want and they get count it
22 million dollars in cap space plus another $1million they are already under the cap for this big 2010 summer free agent push. (Good luck with that I don't think Sac will be able to woo the biggest names)
Why for Boston
Kenny Thomas is the big expiring contract Danny wants 8.7 million
K-mart and Garcia are the young talents he wants
Nocioni is an overpriced glue guy but he serves a purpose if the Kings make us eat his contract instead of letting us have Garcia.
And all these players fill things we need (minus a backup PG which is what Marquis is supposed to do and I think he can)
K-Mart=replacement for Ray (so many of you believe...much more injury prone and much less of a player than Ray was at the same age....but I digress) Garcia, Nocioni, Thomas can all spell Paul and give us much needed wing depth with two of those getting PF minutes in small lineups. All of them but Nocioni are what you would call very athletic.
Lastly Danny has a good relationship with the Maloufs for whatever reason and I think there is a better than average chance Ray gets bought out and can come back and anchor our bench. (Giddens, or Walker will have to be dealt or bought out to clear a roster spot but its a small price to pay) For some reason Ray wants to be here despite a fanbase that has shown themselves to be very "fairweather, wishwashy and generally disloyal to him given how hard he works for the team..but maybe that's just here on this board there goes that cynicism again. Anyway I think its a good deal for all parties.
