http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=yf6gvxcHere's the rundown:
Bos: Gets: K. Martin, K. Hinrich, A. Nocioni
Sends: R. Allen, G. Davis, T. Allen, B. Walker
Sac: Gets: R. Allen, G. Davis, J. Salmons
Sends: K. Martin, A. Nocioni, B. Udrih
Chi: Gets: B. Udrih, T. Allen, B. Walker
Sends: K. Hinrich, J. Salmons, Trade Exception(for B. Walker)
Why it works: First for Sac. it works mostly because they save approx. 13mil for next year and another 9mil the year after. In addition they get a good young player in Davis who would most likely thrive in a starting role for them. Salmons is mostly a trade off to make salaries work. It works for Chi. because they get a savings of 9mil. next year and a reasonable replacement for Hinrich in Udrih. T. Allen would be a cheap throw in replacement for Salmons. Ditto for Walker.
Now, why this works for BOSTON. I really will be heart broken to see Ray leave, but he just isn't contibuting much anymore. Kevin Martin can flat out score and couldn't possibly be much worse on defense. Sure we would have to eat Nocioni's bad contract, but he may be able to contribute, who knows. Hinrich would be a brilliant 6th man as a combo guard. This would be a lot of salary to commit to, but I think it would make KG's and Pierce's last few years more productive. By lessening their scoring burden we could maximize their effectiveness and possibly prolong our championship window. It would mean the end of Ray, as he would no longer be needed, but we would then be able to resign Daniels or another big with next years MLE. This doesn't solve our lack of depth at the PF spot for this year, but maybe someone become available for a buyout later on. Maybe Sheldon wakes up, remember KG once said anything is possible!
