I am tired of reading all of this Ray Allen hatred and bashing.

I dont understand how people are surprised or upset at the fact that Ray Allen, the teams oldest  player is declining.

But thats not the main reason I'm making this post.

This post is more about Ray Allen in decline skill wise (although he is still better than many guards in the league) however he is not declining in minutes.

Ray's record of when it comes to playing less than 35 minutes a game since christmas is: 2-15!!!

Since christmas, Ray has only played in 2 games where he didn't log over 35 minutes. over the past 17 games!!!!!

Clearly Ray is not the problem, the problem is the reason he can't get more rest. People should not be blaming and faulting Ray, when he is having to average 37 minutes a game, and over the past 17 games the averages is probably closer to 39 minutes, and he is our OLDEST player.

The fact that he is the only one who has been healthy enough to play in all of the games, seems to be the reason he seems to be receiving so much hate from people. he sticks out because he is the only healthy player on the roster.(physically and mentally)

We need a Bench, and we can improve the bench, without screwing up the chemistry of the starters.

I've been saying for the longest: Sign Sean Williams-(would bring more to the table than Scal & Baby) he is a defensive  young athletic player, with the MINDSET and understanding of the fact that he is not an offensive player but a defensive player. A very very rare trait in young players.

Get Keyon Dooling.(we would then be like rest of the League, by have more than 1 pg on the roster)

Get Sasha Pavlovic or CJ Miles.

I agree with you, Ray is playing way too much, like the last two seasons. You would except that Doc would reduce his minutes since Ray is only getting older but of course he keeps playing him at a ridiculous rate.

I know what Ray brings to the team spacing and that he is in excellent shape but I don't care. The guy is 34 years old and simply shouldn't be playing more than 35 minutes every game. I knew Doc was overplaying him since Christmas but I didn't know it was that bad! 2-15 for games under 35 minutes... wow.

I'm glad Ray has not been selected to the All-Star game this year, he will clearly enjoy the rest of the All-Star Break.

And hopefully Marquis' return will convince Doc to reduce Ray's minutes but it's doubtful it will change his minutes management.

yeah, Hopefully,

But The All-star break is still 2 weeks away. haha

So two more weeks of Ray logging ridiculous minutes, unless Danny makes a move before then.

And then it'll probably take a week or two before Marquis' gets back in game shape, so it maybe be 3 or 4 weeks altogether before Ray sees significant minute reduction.

Doc Rivers just does that. He's not going to change.
PP in his first game back from a knee infection played something like 50 minutes if I remember correctly.
Doc obviously doesn't see it as a big problem, and maybe he's right. He did play in the NBA.
Anyway, I don't see much "hate" out here for Ray.

I totally agree. Whenever Ray is having an off shooting night or a bad game, i think to myself "oh god, there's gonna be 15 more trade Ray threads after this game." It's a shame, really. Ray doesn't deserve all the criticism he gets. Even if Ray is shooting poorly, you know he's always out there giving it 100%.

I would like to think it was that simple.

But it seems to me, no matter what the Thread Topic title reads or all the different forums.

The comments and posts always somehow end up talking about Ray Allen and how he needs to be traded, or how his shooting is awful, and this and that. I dont know if you've been on this site recently, but, you pretty much can't escape the Ray Allen bashing recently.

You cant look at comments and posts by people without things somehow turning into a Ray Allen conversation.....seems like every single trade proposal is only involving Ray Allen!

Believe me I'm not out searching for it, I'm not purposely looking for comments and posts specifically about Ray Allen and all of the harsh criticism.

This post is a result of not being able to read a topic or something not about Ray Allen, without out someone dishing out harsh criticism about Ray Allen.

It's not like there have been any posts at all that suggest waiving or benching him, right?  I haven't seen any Ray hate on CB yet.

I really wish it was easier to have a dialogue about Ray that wasn't so either/or...one where we can like him, think he's great, AND still be open to the idea that the Celtics could possibly be a better team if he was traded for some other combination of players, without it being considered "hating" Ray or whatever.  I think it is completely unfair to consider a poster as a "Ray hater" or that someone is "Ray bashing" by suggesting this.  More importantly to CB, it is not productive to discussion about the Celtics, which is what the Forum is for, I believe.

I think Ray is having a best season as a Celtic, I don't blame anyone individually for the struggles this team is having, and I believe we will get #18 if we stay healthy trough the rest of the season.

Who hates Ray?  No-one.  Show me a post where someone hates him.  You're making something out of nothing.

The fact is many of us like Ray, but are actually open to the idea of what he might bring back in a trade.. not just for this year, but mostly for the next several years.  Just like all of the potential trade ideas in July, it's still active now.

i don't think people are "hating" ray either by suggesting trading him, but I do think people underestimate his value as a "team" guy.  trading him for monta ellis, someone who takes 22 shots a game and can't shoot from the outside AND turns the ball over, for example, will probably make us worse.

You summed up perfectly why posters are thinking about trading Ray.

Not because posters "hate" Ray (I hate when fans drop to the level of labeling anyone who isn't a huge fan as "haters")

It's because Ray is at the end of his career.  Right now, Ray has he highest trade value for the Celtics he is going to have.  18 million expiring contract with a player you can sell to your fans as an "upgrade".

Fans are natural to wonder what they can get in a trade for a player that has spent most of his career away from the Celtics (unlike a Paul Pierce)

I understand that Ray's expiring contract and his relative decline at age 34 explain all threads and suggestions about trading him.

However you can't deny that Ray always takes the blame when we lose (and even we win), and it's been the case since he's been a Celtic so his expiring contract is not an "excuse".

For whatever reason people have a tendency to blame Ray for everything while often keeping mute about Pierce or KG when they do play badly.

I so agree with you Drucci. There has been nothing but hate ray posts here lately and I, too, am sick of it. Yeah, it's true I don't have to read it, but I was hoping this was a place I'd like to come to. There's too much every player hater and coach hater here too when things aren't going well. And it's not analysis, as some say. No, it's total bashing and hateful and depressing to read. I'd rather listen to the announcers who, even when we are losing a game, have nice things to say about our players and educated analysis and most of all, perspective without the emotional rants.
Ray is one of the greatest players in history, we are lucky to have him and if I were him, I'd be thinking about going somewhere I'm appreciated as a whole, not simply as a chess piece.
