Colin Cowherd is mentioning that the Lakers and Raptors are discussing a trade in which the principal pieces are Bosh to the Lakers and Bynum to the Raptors.
2025 Historical Draft - Cleveland Cavaliers - 1st pick

Starters - Luka, JB, Lebron, Wemby, Shaq
Rotation - D. Daniels, Mitchell, G. Wallace, Melo, Noah
Deep Bench - Korver, Turner

Cowherd is not an insider.  He is likely just referring to the rumor that has been around for a while now, and it was never clear if it was just speculation, or actual discussions.  I think it does make a little sense for both teams, but I don't see it happening.

I hope it doesn't happen.  It would make the Lakers even more scary for the next couple of years.

Especially if the Raptors can stick around the 5th or 6th seed.

Bosh for Bynum is a good deal for Toronto, not the Lakers.

I say let LA do this trade..it will certainly hurt them defensively, I think, but help them offensively.

Bynum is at least a traditional center, and a better shotblocker than both Gasol and Bosh. Sure he has had some health issues as well, but he is young and still learning the game.

Trade would help Toronto, where they could slide Bargnani to the PF slot.

Gasol would have to slide over to center, and while he matches up well with most centers I just don't believe it would be a wise move over the long haul for LA. Gasol would have to match up with each opponent's big man over the entire course of the game and season AND playoffs, whereas now at least he has Bynum to to that.

And with Gasol's health issues this season that would be more wear and tear on him.

Why would LA even consider this? Do they not believe that they have the pieces to repeat this year?

Whether or not LA and Toronto do this trade I still like Boston's opportunity for Banner 18 in June of this year. When we play Celtics Basketball, we can beat anyone no matter who they have on their team.

Did some thinking..IF this trade does in fact happen:

LA vs Boston:

Perk VS Gasol---Advantage Gasol, but only slightly. Perk showed me a lot of promise by not allowing Kaman to have another field day last night, so that's why I am optimistic that Perk would not let Gasol have a field day against us. Plus, Perk is stronger than Gasol, and as long as he kept a body on him this will disrupt his game.

KG VS Bosh - KG has Always played well against Bosh, keeping him locked up defensively. I really like this matchup for us. KG does well against Bigs who like to take it outside, and I see no difference in his ability to do this against Bosh.

Throw in Sheed, Shelden and Glen, and Gasol and Bosh would have a lot harder time against us. As long as the refs allowed us to be our normal Physical selves, this would wear LA down over the course of a series.

But like I stated in my previous post, I still like Boston's Opportunity this June for Banner 18, regardless of who LA has....as long as we Play Celtics Basketball.

That trade would give LA three of the top 10 or 12 players in the league.  And they'd still have plenty of role players.

Do they have plenty of role players now?

that trade leave LA like Boston and without Perk
if that happens LA will be even softer
and Kobe will have the ball even less or Bosh
or both, anyway...that will not help them
hope it happens

I dont really know how anyone could argue against this deal making the Lakers better... Bosh over Bynum? Seriously? This would instantly make the Lakers the front runners by incredible lengths. Thats an absurd lineup and they would be silly not to do that trade.

Bosh is seriously overrated.  And Bynum is a much better fit with Bargnani.

There is only one ball.  The Lakers do not need another scorer.  They need defense and rebounding, neither of which Gasol supplies.

The Lakers also need a better bench.  That's where they should focus their efforts at the deadline, not on Bosh.

well I can try

If celtics dont have perkuless
how deep they can go with sheed and KG alone
very deep
sure
but champions...
mmmmm

I am not THAT sure

.s. I still like     KG + Sheed  over   Bosh + Gason
Its like playing       Uruguay   over    Chile
Levels may be the same, but after all heart and claw will prevail

Lakers

Gasol
Bosh      Odom
Artest
Kobe     Ricky Martin
Fisher   Farmar

thats a small lineup if not weak and soft

Bosh is a better rebounder then Bynum, by both totals and rate.  Bosh is a better passer then Bynum.  Bosh is a better scorer, from pretty much everywhere, then Bynum.  Neither guy is a great defender, but I'd actually take Bosh at this point in their careers.  Bynum is as soft as a box of tissues and he is always hurt.

Bosh is a significant upgrade for the Lakers given their current ability and given the Lakers current situation, that should be their goal.

I'd assume Farmar would also go to Toronto and perhaps a draft pick making it a bit better for them.
