Cleveland has been linked with some pretty big names, including Amare, Jamison, Murphy, and West.  The thinking is that they'd trade Big Z and maybe another piece, and then re-acquire Z after he's bought out.

What do you think?  Which player makes Cleveland the scariest, and do you think they have the pieces to pull off a deal?

Amare 110%.

Jamison is a close second. He's only 105%

Call me crazy with Amare on that list but I think Jamison might be the best fit for the Cavs.

Kind of an aside, but wouldn't it be great if Danny could run a similar deal? Trade Ray for someone like that with the understanding that Ray get bought out so he could come back to the Celts.

Jamison for this year, he's a better fit for LeBron's game.

Amar'e would make Cleveland scarier going forward.

I picked Amare but mainly because of his age. I love the thought of Amare and Varejao together. A nice ying and yang to that combo.

I think Jamison may be the best fit for today's Cavs team. With Shaq and all.

That's what I'm thinking for "win now".

Definitely Jamison because he is a hard worker, he brings 100% energy every game, he is a monster offensively and he can defend pretty well.

I wouldn't like to meet Cleveland in the playoffs if they acquire him.

With that said, I don't think Washington will make that deal and then buyout Ilgauskas. And I sure hope they don't do that. :P

Obviously each one of the players listed would be a good addition for them but I don't think they would be unbeatable or that much tough to beat with Stoudemire, West or Murphy. Jamison would make them a lot much tougher though, as he would fit right with this team and its mentality.

I voted Antwan Jamison. With the only consolation being that of the four forwards being discussed, all are poor to - at best - mediocre and unreliable defensively.

But I'm actually going to be angry, regardless. How is an offer of Ilgauskas's expiring deal (with Z returning to the Cavs) and the 25th best player from the 2008 draft generating so much attention.

PLamb summed it up nicely.

So basically Cleveland will take your high salary superstar off your hand but doesn't want the other team to get anything in return except a minor prospect for an NBA star like Jamison or Amare

I find that rather pompous

If that is the way the Cavs think other teams will do business then the Celtics have to get involved trading Ray Allen and demanding after the trade that the other team buy out Ray so that he can return to the Celtics too

Actually, I'm going to go back on that. I think Amare is the better option today and in the future.

Amare is the better defender and the more efficient offensive player. As much as I love Jamison's style of play and how it fits alongside James and Shaq, I'm not convinced that's enough to make up for Amare's advantages.

And did I say how much I love the idea of Varejao and Amare together? Wow, the more I think about it the more I like it.

Those two would be devastating. Much better than Jamison and Varejao. Varejao plays a lot more minutes than Shaq too (30 to 23). Does that make him the more important player when considering fit?

All of those, make them better. That is scary enough.
Once you are labeled 'the best' you want to stay up there, and you can't do it by loafing around.

Maybe you will soon have to add Iguodala in the poll :

Per Wojnarowski's Twitter (once again) :

Quote
The Cavs have been listening intently to Sixers pitch of Andre Iguodala for several days, sources say. Unclear what Philly wants back.

why aren't the celtics linked to any of those names? We have a nice expiring contract in Ray Allen, and we would take him back for cheap after he gets bought out too. I mean, what's so special about the cavs Big Z special?

I would have chosen David West but I find that deal the least likely. (And judging by his 0 vote total so do others.)

Hornets have other avenues for getting under the luxury tax - see the current Devin Brown for Aaron Gray rumor - and seemingly can't afford to over-burden and alienate Paul in a straight salary dump involving their second best player.
