Guess it depends on if Miami can draft him. Otherwise could end up like Matt Jones or Alex Smith.

Tim gets his first start this week.

Guaranteed no matter what happens he'll look really happy afterwards and say stuff like "I need to get better".

I'm putting my bet on 2 God/Lord references and one Urban Meyer reference.

I also think there will be at least one nun at the game that they show on tv.

I haven't been this excited about a kid since Doug Flutie.

A very good first game against a very good team is good for me.

These guys saying he has too slow a release to be good in the NFL are the same guys who said Flutie was too short.  Idiots.

Exactly ... pundits almost always underestimate desire and hard-work, and Tebow is one of the biggest over-achievers and hard-workers I've seen come along in a long time, with more heart and desire than most four other players.

  • Rondo = Good
I think he'll be the NFL equivalent of J.J. Redick.  Will take him a while but he'll eventually round out into a solid contributor.

I hate it when they say stupid things like "His release is too slow. He's 245 pounds and plays too tough. He needs to slide. He never played in a pro offense.

First of all the guy won the academic Heisman. Yeah. That's right. The real one AND the one for being an awesome student. He's smart enough that's not an issue.

Second Danny Woodhead and Wes Welker look like munchkins next to Tim Tebow and get hit hard in the open field all the time.

Third ...and this one is important... You know who had a really fast release?   Ryan Leaf.

Don't talk to me about releases.

Ummm, I am not sure what Ryan Leaf has to do with anything, but having a quick release is incredibly important to being an effective NFL quarterback.  It doesn't guarantee success, but it makes it incredibly hard to have success without it.

And the Flutie comparison doesn't work because Flutie had an incredibly quick release and very accurate arm, which is really what made him great.  It was his legs that made him famous, but his quick and accurate throws that won him games.

Anyways, as for Tebow, I think he still has a ways to go.  He needs to work on his release (although its already looking better), and he needs to learn to be a pocket passer first, and runner second (like Michael Vick has learned this year).

But if there ever were a guy who I think could learn that is it Tebow.  He has the work ethic and heart that it takes to be great.

So, while I wouldn't put money on him being a hall of famer, given how far he still has to go, he is one of the few guys that I would never bet against.

Trent Edwards-Pennington/Dilfer.

Sounds about right.

In the right system he will reach that ceiling.

Depends on whether they get a coach who sets an offense to his talents.

Likely upside is Randall Cunningham-type....Or a rich man's Bob Lee.

  • Another undersized Celtic...
Vince Young. Without the mental problems. But really, if someone like Belicheck got him, he'd be a tight end.

Exactly. If you try to make him Manning you're an idiot. Montana wasn't Manning and neither was Steve Young. West Coast Offense.

You have to use what he can do better than anyone or you're not a good offensive coordinator. It would be like if Manning's offensive coordinator was like "Well. We're not going to let you call plays at the line. We aren't going to let you ever use a hurry up offense. And we won't throw any deep passes. And we want you to scramble a lot. Oh. Peyton. You can't do that? For shame."

Same exact thing.  Let him play football.

I'm also tired of all these experts that praised Farve for being tough and a gunslinger but then criticize Tebow for the same thing minus the tremendous game killing interceptions.
