Asking legitimately here: is Lee a better defender at PF than Nene?

Lee's got a better motor, no question.

That is a very legitimate question.

Nene, Lee, neither one blocks shots. Nene can't elevate..but Lee, he's been guarding 5's his whole career...playing out of position. He's quick enough to guard 4's, he's got the size, and he's got heart. Honestly I don't know how he does against the better 4's in the league, but he can put it on the floor, he can hit a jumper, and he won't take any games off. I can't say many of those things about Nene.

Well, Nene is 2 inches taller (at 6'11"), and has averaged nearly a block a game for his career. Lee is a much more consistent player, better rebounder, and has done more with arguably less skills and raw athletic ability.

I think it's a good move though. I'd probably rather have the guy that leaves it all on the court every night than the guy who only sometimes approaches a higher ceiling.

There will be great frontcourt battles in the Atlantic for years to come, no question.

Well did some wheeling and dealing and have:

PG: Ty Lawson - rookie PG with tons of upside and leadership abilities that does just about everything great

SG: Ray Allen - veteran SG that is the best three point shooter in history and as clutch as they come

SF: Still to come

PF: Kenyon Martin - tough PF, good defender and plus rebounder

C: Nene Hilario - good defensive C with good rebounding and low posts skills

Bench: Zach Randolph - Instant offense and rebounding coming off the bench where hiding his defenses lapses will be easier

Starters are athletic, good defenders that can play uptempo or half court

Edit: How many other front courts are good enough to bring a 20/10 All Star off the bench??
Pick 2 Knicks

PG: George Hill, Ty Lawson
SG: Ray Allen, Anthony Parker, Quentin Richardson
SF: Grant Hill, Matt Barnes, D
PF: Zach Randolph, Kenyon Martin, Jon Brockman, Dante Cunningham
C:  Nene Hilario,   Own rights: Nikola Pekovic IR: Kyle Weaver

No front courts are, Z-Bo off the bench = implosion.

Also your payroll is already: 62.5 Million

I think you're a playoff team, but I don't see a contender.

Why bench Zach? I think you have to start him, and either bring KMart or Nene off the bench, depending on matchups.

A ZBo/KMart frontcourt sounds nasty, with Nene as the first big off the bench for some offense/change of pace.

Fafnir, beat me to it. The guy is finally putting it together and now you're going to ask him to come off the bench?

Optimistic is the word.

K-Mart and Nene aren't exactly "character" guys either. Both have had their pouts and other issues. I think having all three on one team is asking for an explosion.

Talent wise, its a amazing but talent isn't everything.

I've never read anything negative about Nene?

You guys might be right about starting Zach Randolph

But I don't have a problem with the personalities

Nene and KMart have gotten along well enough with Ty Lawson to play together and have the third best record in the league this year

Zach Randolph, everyone agrees, is a different player this year playing strong team ball and helping to lead a very very young Memphis team and isn't getting nearly the respect here that he is getting nationwide for what he is doing

Remember, Rasheed was once considered a knuckleheaded, trouble making selfish player because he was on bad teams too

He went to Detroit, found his niche and suddenly he was an All-Star and world champion

Nene and KMart make a good defensive tandem and have for a couple years or more

Late in games they will be playing and Lawson and Allen are an excellent duo in the backcourt

The Knicks also have 7 picks in the next 4 rounds, more than any other team and almost twice as many as most teams

Expect a deep deep bench

  • Be the posts you wish to see in the world.
New Orleans has the 1st and 8th picks tomorrow, and is willing to trade down from 8.  I'd need two picks in the 4-5 range, and would give up either 6.21 or 7.21 as well.

I'm a bit surprised that Barbosa was still available ... I think the bench's are going to be very interesting ... lots of hidden teasures there. ;)
