I have him ranked ahead of Ray right now.  I think Mayo could be somewhere in between Redd and Joe Johnson, with better ballhandling.

He reminds me a lot of a young Ray, but with less range.

I just don't see what you guys are seeing in OJ Mayo. He does so little for his team outside of scoring (defense, rebounding, passing) and he's not that good of a scorer either. Not prolific (18ppg) or overly efficient (TS% of 54.8%). He's a solid scorer, a nice third option type of threat.

I don't see a star level impact from Mayo during games or mass potential when I watch him play. Too one-dimensional (only above average in his scoring ability). Not enough elsewhere.

He's doing what's asked of him. It's hard to rack assist playing off the ball so much. I don't think it'd be easy for any off guard to rack more than 3 boards playing with a front court of Randolph, Gasol, and Gay. Lastly, 18 ppg on 54% shooting is pretty good considering he's the 3rd option on offense.

In the previous season, OJ Mayo was allowed to dominate the basketball and his scoring (18ppg on 54% TS%) + assist numbers (3.2apg) were comparable to his current figures. He also played on a team that was out-rebounded on the season and his rebounding numbers (3.8rpg) were the same. While playing the same amount of minutes.

Maybe I'm in the minority here, but I think Love is a much better player than Mayo (and the gap tends to widen) and a better player than Al Jefferson. Excellent rebounder, excellent passer, very good and versatile scorer, decent defender. He may never be a superstar, but will deliver loads of wins for his team.

True. Kahn was literally trying to wipe the slate clean after taking over, rather than thoughtfully assessing the roster.  Mike Miller and Foye would've been really, really good in a triangle offense.  That trade made no sense.  A Foye/Brewer/Miller/Al/Love lineup would work with that offense, though Al/Love might not be a great pair for that style.  Not sure why he blew that up, other than to keep McHale from getting any future credit for anything that ends up working out.
