Yes, but Kevin is injury prone.

One observation regarding KMart's defense- other than Patrick O'Bryant I don't think the Celtics have had anyone play bad defense due to lack of effort since the KG era began.  The two that lacked the ability were Cassell(legs) and Moore(brain).  Marbury even played decent defense.  Eddie House has been decent despite haveing horrible physical attributes.  I just can't see KMart coming here and slacking.

I think if we're going to be realistic about this, you have to know that a) the Kings are going to want something more than Ray, b) they're goign to insist that we take a another long-term contract, and c) we're not taking Udrih to back-up Rondo for 10 mins a game.

To me, the trade is: Ray, Baby, Giddens and 2011 protected 1st for Martin, Garcia and Kenny Thomas.

The Kings get frontcourt help in Baby, a pick and the financial and cap relief they need. They'd probably prefer to ditch Nocioni, but they should be happy to trade any one of their overpaid wings, and to me Garcia is by far the best fit.

Thomas can split time with Williams and Scal backing up the 4. He can still rebound and play physical defense. So can Sheldon.

The Mavericks are talking about throwing Josh Howard at the Kings. We're going to have to give up more than an expiring contract for a Martin deal to become realistic.

i know ray has a great body and theoretically can play for a few more years, but I doubt it.  I saw GP when he was this age playing in Seattle.  When they traded him for a 27 year old Ray, a lot of fans in Seattle were furious about the downgrade.  GP maybe had 1 more "solid" year in him.   Ray played 5 solid years in Seattle.   Seems like the same situation all over again.   Ray's 34.  He's an ankle sprain away from everyone on this forum having a panic attack.  Luckily it wouldn't do much to destroy his trade value... since he's more valuable as a expiring contract than a 34 year old fringe star.

I think it's funny that so many fans here are expecting an aberration Reggie Miller career as opposed to the career most shooting guards his age have.

And really...even if he DOES defy the odds and have a Reggie Miller career (and play until he's 39)... it's not like Reggie was a star in his later years.  More like a 10-12 point guy.   I'd much rather have Kevin Martin than Reggie Miller in his waning years.
