It would make sense for minny to move him for a legit Center to start next to Love who is a beast on the boards. I bet the C's could get him for Perk and expiring contracts  , but I wouldn't do that this year. Maybe if KG was injured for a lot of the rest of this season I would consider doing it next off season to get a replacement for KG . Would love to get Big Al back in green.

Trading Perk for Al just to replace KG sounds at best redundant.

I cannot overstate my adversity when it comes to trades involving any of our starters.

There's not a doubt in my mind that a large part of it is because I'm in love with our current roster, and am definitely looking through a pair of green glasses, but even if I think about it a bit longer, I really don't see any good coming from trading. I believe what we have here and now, is a championship team, and we should (ab)use them as long as we have them.

As for Perkins in particular; I'd like him and Rondo to be our future. They're young, and I believe in keeping a good core of players to build around them, more than I believe in just getting as much raw talent as you can get. There seems to be chemistry between our guys, and that's something you can't just replace. It takes years to build, and when you have found it, it has the potential to add a lot more than plain athleticism or skills can add.

I could definitely see how this trade makes sense though ;)

Ok this is a total hypothetical , but say KG struggles with injuries the rest of the season. We would clearly be in the market for a PF because KG isn't ever going to be the same . Would you do a trade of Perk, BBD for BiG AL? and how good of a team would this roster be?

PG: Rondo
SG: Allen
SF: PP
PF: Big AL
 C: KG     / Sheed

Sheed and KG would start at center depending on the matchup.

I say that team could still easily win 60+ games depending if we brought the rest of our bench back.

Why would they trade for Perkins when Perk is due for a new contract? Minnesota would need to get more talent back than just Perkins, Big Al is a better player than he is and on a reasonable contract to boot.

Sheed and KG would start at center depending on the matchup.

I don't want either of these guys playing center for us.

No way BBD is a 3rd/4th big man in the league who like Perkins is only signed through next year. Why trade for two players who aren't cost controlled and give up the best player in the deal?

No, because the Celtics would just be adding offense while taking a step back defensively.

You don't want to trade Perk and be forced to slide KG or Rasheed over to center for prolonged minutes.

Perk and others for Big AL, I say yes.
Once you are labeled 'the best' you want to stay up there, and you can't do it by loafing around.

Rasheed's best position is C though, you just really don't want him to be your starter anymore.

They would have a great 3 man rotation of Perk, Love and BBD. So they would have a young solid front court and would still have cap room to sign a max free agent next year. They could always trade BBD (if they dont want to resign him) with Ricky Rubio and get a pretty good return .

What kinda package do you think Minny is looking for ?

I think they'll want some young offensive talent that they won't have to immediately reward with a new contract.

Look at it this way, they could just sign BBD/Perkins to a FA deal with their cap space in one year. Unless they've decided Big Al is overpaid, why pull the trigger on such a swap?

Todd Day, Steve Hamer and Alton Lister are not walking through that door. And if they were they would be old and asking for money
