Start Bill in a limited role, and play Tony Majority of the minutes.

it doesnt matter who boston starts...TA nor bill can score enough for boston to stay in the game and neither can match up with Vince Carter. So we have to hope Ray can carry them on offense...and if the magic come out hitting every 3 like they usually do vs boston...then it is over....boston wins 1 of the next 4 games without PP. danny needs to make a move now

Who would you suggest as a reasonably attainable and legitimate stop gap?

TA can certainly score enough, but Vince is a really tough matchup.

who else is going to make shots? Ray is the only guy starting now that can hit 3s and jumpers on a regular basis...Tony can't....Rondo can't..KG can't....i just dont see this ending well on Friday...

they don't have anyone to replace PP. nobody without Daniels...can even contribute on both ends like PP does...and i disagree about Tony being able to score. he isn't going to get 15-25 like PP would have...he isnt going to hit 3's...he isnt going to knock down jumpers...i think this is the scenerio we all feared the most....no PP and tony having to play heavy minutes....

The really sad thing is that I was looking forward to seeing what our full strength squad could do against Orlando's.  Jameer just got back for them, and I think we were playing really poorly last time we met up with them.  I thought this would be a great barometer for how good our team is.  Now we'll have to wait even longer to see.

Yeah, that's definitely what disappoints me the most with Pierce's absence. It seems minor and he will be OK so it's fine but I was definitely looking for a statement win in Orlando and now, even though it's still possible, it likely won't happen. Too bad Marquis is still out.

Now we can have crazy hopes and expect Walker to become a major contributor in Pierce's absence, earning his place in the rotation but it sounds like a pipe dream and like you guys I think Doc won't play him that much...

I hope Pierce's absence won't hurt our record too much, we currently have a little advance on Orlando and Cleveland for HCA. Also, I hope Doc won't overplay Ray and others too much because of Pierce's absence

This news definitely hurts but at least we can be thankful it happens now and not in the playoffs.

is ok.
great time to give tony some extended burn. he may prove his value yet. will also force walker into action a bit. hopefully he makes the best of his oportunity.
if either comes through our wing rotation will be a lot stronger for the stretch run/ trade deadline.

I have a bad feeling that Scal will start. :'(
Once you are labeled 'the best' you want to stay up there, and you can't do it by loafing around.

walker wont get off the bench...he is an extra body to practice with....it will be Tony starting and Scal backing him up...and they both will be abused by Vince Carter....it won't even be close...look...boston was facing an uphill battle vs orlando with PP....look at the bench...

who is going to come off the bench?? they have nobody to spell ray on the bench...nobody..doc mixes and matches ray and PP with that second unit...with tony thrown in...now what?? scal plays the SF, Sheed and Sheldon down low...eddie spells rondo....now who plays the SG?? does rondo play basically the entire game and house the SG??

Why would you do that?

I just think Tony is needed more off the bench. Our bench is already limping, if you take Tony out it means more minutes for Scal. Starters can carry Walker along.

Carter is overrated.

he is better than anyone boston has to guard him....and boston has nobody that can produce offensively at the SF spot...and god help us if Ray allen gets into foul trouble....

  • Thank you Eddie!
This better not become the 2010 version of KG's knee injury.  I'm a little afraid that is what will happen, though.

I have a feeling your feeling is correct.  He'll have to try to hang with Pietrus.

I'm not worried about it. Also, you can be relieved when you consider that this time they went through "arthrostropic irrigation" immediately while they tried to treat KG's knee for months while avoiding surgery. At least, they chose to heal this injury immediately.

Carter is overrated.

Exactly...he is a Volume Shooter, probably even more so than our Antoine Walker was. As long as we deny him the ball and shoot a little better than we did in our last contest against ORL, then we can pull this off.

Imagine the Headline on ESPN later Christmas Night:

"And the Celtics Pull off a Christmas Miracle in ORL without Paul Pierce".....

I think we are about to find out who our true MVP is.
