I
Don't get excited.  It'll be TA starting and Scal off the bench... Bill will likely only get minutes in emergencies or garbage time.
Too late, I'm already excited. TA was taking Daniels place, now he is taking Pierces in the rotation. That means someone needs to take on the Quis role. Scal might be able to do this for a small amount of time, but I expect to see at least ten minutes out of Walker, most of the games Pierce is out.

This injury came at the right time, meaning that it was not at the end of the season.

Also don't be shocked if it is more serious than thought much in the same way KG's injury was downplayed. Not to the same extent as KG, I'm just saying I wouldn't be shocked if it was 4-6 weeks instead of 2.

it looks like they learned their lesson from KG last year and took care of Pierce's problem asap instead of letting him play through it and letting it get worse.

Not the best timing, but better now than the playoffs. Also, while it comes at the expense of him being hurt, two weeks of rest for him might not be the worst thing. Seems like it is relatively minor anyways, just hope for no complications.
agreed, better the little things like this and daniels wrist/thumb are taken care of now instead of letting them linger
in other words who cares about best record, lets roll into playoffs 100% healthy with a full team working well

Too bad daniels is out, he'd be an easy start.  My guess is Tony but I hope doc gives him "rest" ie pulls him if the bonehead plays start.  I'd rather walker gets sf backup minutes and keep scal to just in case since sf is really out of posistion speedwise on d (this won't happen though)

And we already have more info about this injury than we ever did on KG's.

I hope we start Bill Walker instead of Tony Allen. Lets keep Tony in his usual role coming off the bench & keep good chemistry with our normal bench role players. TA has a habit of playing out of control & his role & responsibilities when he is a starter. Taking many shots, over dribbling & forgetting that his job is a defensive stopper instead of scorer. Hope Doc doesnt subject himself & the team into this kind of problem so hopefully he limits that. I also dont want to see Scal there being he is a defensive liability & not a playmaking 3 who can set-up other players for shots by attacking. He is basically a junk player who can only score on 3's in the corners & wings. Push comes to shove start Giddens becaused at some point we have to see what the 1st round pick can provide when given the opportunity. So I say Walker or Giddens!

I'll buy that.  Not sure Doc will, but we shall see.

Remember two years ago when many thought Powe was useless and would be cut? Let's hope Walker does a Powe.

The really sad thing is that I was looking forward to seeing what our full strength squad could do against Orlando's.  Jameer just got back for them, and I think we were playing really poorly last time we met up with them.  I thought this would be a great barometer for how good our team is.  Now we'll have to wait even longer to see.

And I'm really having trouble understanding people's excitement in having TA and BIll Walker take loads of minutes.  Tony has played well recently, but he's also had streaks of playing well in the past and then falling right back into playing horribly.  Now the pressure is on him even more and I think its safe to say that we never know what we're going to get out of him, good or bad.  Bill Walker is totally unproven and not NBA ready.  So two completely unreliable guys sharing 48 minutes at SF?  That sounds more like a nightmare than something to be excited about.

TA, Walker, Giddens and Scal all rolled into one wouldn't even help...4 scrubs...I can't believe people think Bill walker with his own bad knee and TA are going to somehow morph into guys that contribute on both ends .without PP and with Daniels hurt, boston has ZERO chance to beat Orlando. They don't even have a SF.....They don't have the bench nor the scoring to beat them.....as for who starts? it will be Tony (which they will get nothing from) and Scal off the bench (which will provide nothing)...so basically boston has to hope ray hits shots, KG's leg is good to go and rondo can pick up the scoring. i just don't see it. this is a bad omen.

Oh, crap.  Who guards Vince Carter?  TA is too short, and Ray can't hang with him defensivly, either in the post or on the wing.  I bet Scal gets mucho minutes on Friday...I would say the matchup is not in our favor.

Q:  Does TA have fantasy relevance while PP is out?

yessir...tony/scal/walker really dont give boston much in the way that they need PP....tony allen starting is just a disaster....can't score...vince carter is going to abuse anyone boston tries to put on him...as is pietrus.....TA is too small on defense....bill walker wont even get off the bench...we will see tony and scal rotate at SF....disaster

Start Bill in a limited role, and play Tony Majority of the minutes.

I think TA will do fine if he starts, and continue his solid play so far. He won't be mistake-free, but I really believe he will help us pull off a miracle in ORL, despite the current situation.

Scal may start in Pierces' spot, though, due to his extra height advantage.

Vince is talented, but he hasn't exactly been scorching from the field. He has his scoring average based off of his touches. If he gets 40 touches, he'll get 25-30 points.

Just need Perk, Sheed and Shelden to keep Dwight in check. And if KG plays against Rashard like he did last time we met, then we really have a good shot at this. And don't forget Rondo..he'll step up as well.

Would be nice to see Walker get some run too.

Yeah, I also don't discount the importance of Paul's ability to stretch the defense.  That is something that will be totally missing from the starting line-up.  We're down to one guy who can make you pay from behind the arc running with the starters.  Perk, Rondo, and Tony all need to operate close to the basket to be effective offensively, even KG is more comfortable not straying to far from the top of the key.

I would argue that our team is most weakened by the loss of Paul Pierce than anyone else on the team (except maybe Rondo because we have no other true point guard on the roster.)  He really is the thing that makes the Celtics engine go.

it doesnt matter who boston starts...TA nor bill can score enough for boston to stay in the game and neither can match up with Vince Carter. So we have to hope Ray can carry them on offense...and if the magic come out hitting every 3 like they usually do vs boston...then it is over....boston wins 1 of the next 4 games without PP. danny needs to make a move now
