Hoopshype referenced this article and it's a great read and gives some good information and insight about potential Cavalier targets for a trade. They discuss Anthony Randolph, Antawn Jamison and Troy Murphy as possibilities. I'm not to crazy about any of those guys getting onto the Cavs but I guess a best case scenario might be them landing Randolph if they are going to get any of the three. I seriously do not want to see Antawn Jamison on that Cavs team.

I keep wondering what cleveland has been waiting for. I also think they're better off with Big Z in there. I'm surprised they haven't done this already.

Cleveland doesn't scare me with their current team. They could be a dangerous team if they add Jamison though, but, while hoping it won't happen, I also think it won't happen.

I feel that they won't have the guts to trade Ilgauskas so basically their only tradeable players are Delonte West and Sczerbiak's dunno-what-exactly rights.

I really hope they don't get Jamison.  I wouldn't be too worried if they got Murphy, and Randolph can't shoot so he doesn't scare me either.

They have Wally's Bird rights, so they're allowed to sign him to any amount up to and including a max contract and package him in a deal as an expiring contract.  Essentially, it would be a sign-and-trade, much like Dallas did with Keith Van Horn in the Jason Kidd deal and the Lakers did with Aaron McKie.  The league has talked about scrutinizing such trades in the future if the player isn't expected to report and/or suit up, but in all likelihood the NBA would allow the trade to go through.

What a team hasn't done, but would be interesting, would be to sign a guy like Wally to a non-guaranteed contract, trade him, and then have the acquiring team cut him.  All contracts become guaranteed on January 10, but technically, nothing stops the Cavs from signing Wally to a $15 million deal, with only a small portion of that guaranteed.  However, if they tried to pull that off, the league may step in and say they're circumventing the salary cap.

Am I the only one feeling relieved by the Cavs' blowout win against the Lakers?

Cavs fans are cheering since the win and claiming that they now have the proof that they are contenders, that Shaq's addition is huge, that Ilgauskas and Shaq are a deadly combo against Orlando and L.A.

The great thing is that, barring a tough stretch of losses, the Cavs will once again think they have all the pieces needed to win a championship... and thus won't make a trade for Jamison or another good player.

So basically, the more they feel good about their chances against L.A and Orlando, the more the chances that they stay put with their current roster improve.

Which is good for us. I don't think that the Cavs can't win a playoff series against us, you never know, but I'm sure that when healthy we have the edge on them since we are mentally tougher and have all the pieces to matchup well with them (and a better bench).

Keep rolling against good teams, Cleveland, it's all good. :)

I agree.

The Cavs still lack a player who can defend against perimeter bigs like Rasheed, KG, and Rashard Lewis.  Shaq still sucks against the pick and roll.  The LA game doesn't change that one bit.

The cavs FANS may be feeling this way (they are pretty stupid  :P), but I think Danny Ferry will be looking to move Big Z or Shaq before the deadline, I dont believe the win over LA would make him reconsider. There are a few solid fowards that are likely to get moved before the deadline and I think the cavs are well equipped to nab one of them (Randolph, Murphy, Jamison, perhaps even Al Harrington).
