I personally never "wanted" to trade Big Baby ... I love the guy, his enthusiasm, his energy, and while he makes immature mistakes at times, (expected), he's like Leon in that he always gives 110% when he's on the floor. That's what has endeared him to his team-mates and coaches, and I agree. That said, if we could make a trade that would considerably strengthen the team in a weak area, I would put him on the "expendable" list, along with Scal, TA, Giddens, Walker, and Hudson.

Baby plus a couple expiring contracts should bring back a legit rotation player to fill a need or two.

You still think Shelden is better than Big Baby?  Although Shelden appears to be a better rebounder, the Celtics rebounding numbers appear to be better as a team with Davis playing, not to mention he is better at everything else.

I "might" trade him if the right deal presented itself. But he's a pretty good value for the money. He provides a few things that are hard to come by:

1. Probably in the top five in the league in strength aroudn the hoop. Can't have enough of that come the playoffs. After Perk, he is our only real enforcer type player. Garnett and Sheed are both tough but Perk and Baby are pure muscle and pure bangers. Very valuable

2. Plays with alot of heart and passion. Brings good energy to the second team. Those qualities are also hard to come by.

But I "might" trade him if it meant we got a great back up for Pierce. Then I could live with Shelden beind KG.

TP as well from me. That's always been my take too. I also never have thought Shelden was a better overall PLAYER than BBD, just a better fit for this team. With Sheed, House, and Daniels, we have plenty of scoring ability off the bench. We need a rebounder that can also put the ball in the basket at times. His points, when playing the same minutes as BBD, are about equal but his rebounding is far superior. Give me a hard nosed board guy who doesn't need a play run for him to score on that second unit and in the long run I will show you a better team. Considering it takes talent in the equation to get something back of value, I'd include him in a deal with TA and Scal and Walker and/or Giddens in a heartbeat if I could get an athletic defensive 3 in return.

I tend to agree.  I see where the Sheldon love is coming from.  The guy is a hard worker and is a skilled guy for him size.

However, BBD just has intangibles that do not show up on a stat sheet.  His defensive rotations are far superior and he just plays with a swagger that fits our team perfectly.

agreed, davis offers more than williams in areas and more than scal in areas
put all 3 together and you'd have a really good player
but davis has trade value , how much is a good question since his free agent try didn't go well, williams and scal have very little, scal as expiring only
if davis (or house) were needed to trade for a team upgrade i'd be for it no problem

The thing about BBD that I like the most is, plain and simple, he is hard to move. The guy has a lot skills and is a good shooter for a player of his physical stature. But, when you need some pushing and shoving under the basket I dont know if there is anyone any better on our team then baby. Perk is close but probably doesnt quite have BBD's strength although that certainly is debatable. I say we keep him unless we can get a defensive stud who can guard Lebron and Kobe.

Glen Davis is a mental abomination. His teary-eyed antics could cost us a game 7, get him the heck away from a team of this quality. The Pistons don't matter anymore, he can go.

His teary-eyed antics?  Really now?  He's an emotional guy, but so is KG.  Are we going to trade KG because he's too emotional?  He's also put up good games against other teams then the Pistons.  The Pistons were just his coming out party.

In the words of Danny Ainge, "we consider all trades.  If it's something that will make this team better, then I think we'd go for it."

I think trading BBD would make the team better if they got a good SF (quick PF or equivalent) they can bring off the bench.  To me this is the weakest area, since the Celtics are almost forced to play Scalabrine against anyone who can step out and score.  Glen plays a very redundant position on the team if everyone is healthy, and the Celtics really shouldn't have Scalabrine play more than 5 minutes a game.

TP MBz. I love Baby's emotion. It's the same with KG. Heart and fire. Very important to have those elements mixed into the team from a few players.

Alos agree re Baby being like an immovable object. He and Perk are are two muscle guys. When Perk gets in foul trouble against the likes of Shaq or Howard, Baby will come in very handy to push and shove with them.

Playoffs are all about the big boys banging down low.

WE will be looking very, very good heading into the playoffs if all our bigs are healthy:

Perkins / Rasheed / Shelden
Garnett / Baby / Shelden

Very diverse and tough set of bigs.

Honestly, I could care less about the position, it is all about the talent.  Because if they could trade him for a big PG, then that would allow House to play more of his natural position, and ask less of guys like Daniels or even Allen and Giddens on offense.

But it needs to be a net upgrade in talent to make it worth-while.

Personally, I think Baby is too valuable to us to trade for another bench player. Unless that bench player is the caliber of Caron Butler or the like (usually a starter on any other team) that you would package Davis and others for.  I wouldn't trade him for the likes of someone like Posey, Matt Barnes, etc.
