not a lot is going right in Foxboro lately.

I am not going to link to all the stories, but they can be found easily.

pats have now lost 2 straight for the first time in years.  pats have not won on the road (england was technically a road game, but they had more fans then the bucs). blown fourth quarter leads in like 3 of the last 4 games (something that hadnt happened in years).

Albert Breer is talking about how the mood in the locker room after the losses remains jovial, something that was never the case in the past (lack of leadership?)

and now sending home the 4 players for being late.  Adalius Thomas sounds like he is ready to fight BB.

Quote
"There's one thing about Mother Nature -- You can't control that," Thomas said. You can't run people over getting to work. There's nothing to apologize about. I wasn't trying to be late. I don't know what to say. You leave home, there are people there, cars sitting in the road, you're sitting there, what are you gonna do? It's not the Jetsons. I can't jump up and fly. What am I supposed to do?"
Quote
"Motivation is for kindergartners," he said. "I'm not a kindergartner. Sending somebody home, that's like, 'You're expelled until you come back and make good grades.' Get that (bleep) out of here. It's ridiculous. ... I don't know, teaching tool? I don't know. I can't figure out what Bill thinks or knows."

Quote
"I mean, I could've been in a ditch," he said. "They really don't give a [dang]. Hey, as long as you aren't in that meeting, they really don't give a (bleep)."

I cant remember a time when there was so much 'Bad' going on in Foxboro.  Given Adalius's high cap number in the future, I assume this is the last we are seeing of him as a Patriot.  Hopefully, we can find someone to trade him to rather then cutting him at the end of the year and have him reunite with Rex Ryan.

Mike Reiss said in his chat that he believes Adalius will be deactivated for the rest of the year.

I think that Tom Brady and Bill Belichek are too proud to let this happen and have the team totally fall appart. Although I do sometimes wonder if Brady has lost a small amount of his drive after becoming the a celebrity, dating the subermodels, winning the rings and becoming the poster boy for the nfl. It hink we win 10 or 11 games and the division. Then we win one one round in the playoffs and lose a tough fought second game. Then everyone wonders if the era is completely over.

This leads to a monster offeason where we really beef up our d line, add a third receiver and just an impact player somewhere, we come back with a vengence.

Clearly Adalius Thomas doesn't get it.  I know he's a great player (or I guess I should say talented seeing as he has not been so great this season) but I'm all for cutting him.  The sooner the better IMO.

Is Thomas really blaming the weather and traffic?  Has he ever heard of leaving early?  Maybe watch the news or weather the night before?  This was not a surprise storm.  Everyone knew it was going to be terrible out, and anyone with any common sense knew that meant that it was going to take a ridiculously long time to get anywhere.  So you plan ahead, leave early, and then you are all set.

And by complaining about this, he made it much worse, because he is just demonstrating that he just doesn't get it.  It is not about "motivation", it is about taking responsibility and having a sense of pride.  With the way things have been going, not only should they not be arriving late, they should be there early, trying to fix things.  I guarantee you that is what Belichick has been doing, and he expects that from everyone else.

As for the overall question, no, I don't think this team is blowing up.  But I do think Adalius Thomas' days are numbered.

As a die hard Dolphins fan I can only say I hope so...  ;D

Sadly I don't think so. I think a couple free agents this offseason and they are as strong as ever. They just need defensive help. They have the stars in Brady, Welker (thanks to the Fins) Moss, and Maloney. With a stronger secondary they will be right back.

not to mention like 60+ people made it on time, lol.  he also essentially said he wouldnt watch the weather in the future either.

cutting him this year would have huge consequences to the cap.  if they do it, it will be after the season

I guess another reason not to cut him is that there's always the outside shot that he actually turns it around.

Plus he sorta serves as an example of what happens to the young guys while he's here

Yup.  I think they will just keep him inactive for the rest of the season.

"Real frustrating. But it is what it is," Thomas said. "One thing about being a professional, there are good things and bad things. So you know there are a lot of things you can say or whatever. It's just not a good time. I don't want people to think -- it was put out there like I just didn't show up or didn't have a reason, and nobody knew. That's not true. That's not the case at all. That being the case, I was trying to be a professional and let them know traffic is bad and I might not make it on time. After you do that, there is nothing else you can really do."

Moss didn't talk to the media while the locker room was open.

"This is the difference between Randy Moss and Adalius Thomas" are the words I keep repeating to myself in my head.

I'm hoping that Randy Moss's silence is because he realizes that he was in the wrong.  This could be a turning point for Moss.  Let's just hope it's in the right direction
