For his comments about the officiating in yesterday's papers.

I think we ought to take up a collection to repay Sheed.  It's refreshing to hear the truth once in awhile.  If Jeff will agree to be the escrow agent, I'll contribute $50.  Just tell me where to sent the money.

Memo to David Stern:  Big fines aren't going to improve the officiating. It just makes it worse, because it insulates those jerks from criticism.  The whole system is rotten, like an Iranian election.

It is a total joke, 30 grand is a total joke!

The refs are targeting Sheed and it's not right!

I wonder if he is going to say something again after that garbage T tonight and get another fine?! Bennett Salvatore has got to be one of the worst 3 refs in the game with a clear agenda. If Donaghy wasn't alone like that criminal guy said (13 of them or something) then there is no way on earth that he isn't one of them. I'd rather have Violet Palmer or Joey Crawford out there I think...

Actually I have a better idea.  Does Sheed have a charitable foundation?  Many NBA players do (e.g. Pierce).  We can make the checks out to the foundation and the contributions may be tax deductible.

Maybe someone with a press pass can find out.

If the fans don't stick it to David Stern, who will?

  • You ain't the boss of the freakin' bedclothes.
You know what, as long as we're winning I'm viewing sheed's outbursts and techs more as "plucky" than detrimental. You be you, Sheed.

Let him try to collect that $1,000.  Hope he does, because I'll counterclaim under RICO.  That's the appropriate statute for claims involving NBA officiating.

I think the league should quit with the policy of fines for complaints that are neither profane nor personal in nature. It obviously hasn't fully deterred coaches and players from continuing to gripe and I think it has even added a layer of unnecessary antagonism between the refs and the players/coaches.  It paints the refs as establishment puppets and reinforces all the conspiracy theories of guys like Sheed.

Society already looks down on sore losers; no need for league execs to run around like communist/fascist dictators "reviewing" dialogue with the press for comments the league doesn't like.

Funny thing with David Stern..he even looked somewhat uncomfortable when he was in Boston for the Trophy presentation back in June 2008..he doesn't like Boston, does he?

Is there really a conspiracy against Boston? I know we are hated (Just look at the Pierce demolishing of Bosh on Youtube Comments..about 80% hate us), but are the refs really quick to T us up? It sure seems so...

This fine just proves a point about that article on Celtics Blog a few weeks ago...the Boston Celtics are Definitely the most hated team. Fine's pretty steep.

The complaining and the fining won't stop for simple and obvious reasons; the refs aren't respected for good reason and the league has taken their side or instructed them to do the inept job that they do.

The league would have a point if the vast majority of fans and sportswriters didn't agree with the players.

People don't take the officiating of this league seriously and they won't any time soon.

That's $30,000 going toward charity.  You can't complain about that, right?  (Rasheed has the money, and this is probably a tax break.)

Collection? Because a rich guy has no self control and likes to complain?

What is the point in ranting that refs miss calls? Especially from someone like Sheed who complains about good calls all the time! No refs claim to be perfect, though Sheed seems to think he is.

I think the league essentially takes the stance that their refs are perfect with the exception of one token punishment of Joey Crawford when he attacked Tim Duncan over nothing whatsoever
