Trade idea with DC (based on Gilbert and Butler not getting along)

Jamison is really the most probable. Blatche seems poised to start once he starts acting like a real NBA player, and with Haywood, McGee and Oberto on the squad they don't need his depth at center.

I can't see the Wizards trading Butler (very good contract + good guy + talented) ... particularly not in a salary dump when he has the most trade value out of their top three players.

So I don't think this trade is a possibility at all. Plus there's no point (end game wise) dumping Butler's salary unless you get rid of Arenas' + Jamison's too.

Trading Ray for Butler, I think that would be a downgrade. Currently, I don't think Butler is as good as Ray is. He's worse on both ends of the court by a large margin (not efficient enough as a scorer, not a good enough passer, very poor defensively [laterally challenged]). Plus the injuries.

But it does get the C's a younger body who is a good talent and has a very good contract (key point for me) ... Not a great trade, but maybe a decent one ... tough decision. I'm not sure whether I'd make it or not. I don't like the picture in my head right now of Butler on the floor next to these guys. A change of scenery might help him get more out of himself though. Maybe, definitely worth considering.

Butler is Pierce-lite. It will be tough to lose Ray. Getting Butler will ease our pain. Love the trade. TP

This is the first trade proposal I've seen involving Ray that seems semi-plausible and actually worth it for us.

If the Wizards get to the trade deadline and are still playing awful (sub-.500) and we're still not clicking on all cylinders, I wouldn't be that surprised to see this trade happen.

I think you might need to throw in someone like Davis to sweeten the pot for Washington, but if they do continue to tank, this could be a very good deal for both teams.

I also think a deal based around Jamison could be possible as well, and may be more likely, because of Jamison's larger contract. 

A trade that I saw proposed on another site that I could really see happening if they tank is Ray and Davis for Jamison and Mike Miller.  It saves Washington a ton of cash, while bringing them back a couple good players who would actually fit in very well with their team.  And for Boston, they get Mike Miller, who can step right in to Ray's spot, and Jamison, who would dramatically improve the C's depth up front.

I dont like this deal simply because, it could come and bite us on the butt, in the playoffs.  I'm not a fan of trading players in the same conference to teams with playoff capabilities. It doesn't make sense, and is too risky

Trading Ray to the Wiz, if the Wiz were a for sure lottery team, ok, but the Wiz are capable of getting into the playoffs, and I wouldn't want Ray dropping 51 and the Wiz advancing past the C's. that would be one heck of a storyline tho.

I think Jamison is a far more likely target due to his age + contract vs Butler.

That Jamison + Miller trade is a very interesting idea for both teams.

Does it make a different who scores against us in the playoffs if we lose? We need to play well. Storylines are just storylines.

KG, Perk, Sheed, Jamison.  Sounds great on paper, but how do you divide the minutes?  Jamison can theoretically play some SF, but at his age not that much.  Plus that's 3/4 guys in our front line who are over 32.  That's pretty risky.

Also, Mike Miller is a little too slow to play SG...ideally he'd play SF.  Same goes for Paul, so suddenly we'd have too much depth at SF and very little at SG.
