I think any deal involving Ray must give the C's a legit chance to compete for a title this year, while also adding a member to core of this team for the future.
Another constraint is that I do not believe ownership is willing to dramatically raise payroll to do this, so we cannot just take on terrible contracts in order to get an asset or two.
If these criteria are not met, then I think this team is better off going forward with Ray.
Needless to say, these deals involving the Knicks are not meeting these criteria.
I think the GS deal is interesting, but I only would bring in Ellis if Rondo is involved. They would not play well together, but I think Ellis would be a suitable replacement for Rondo, if they could get good value for Rondo.
