And for those who think he is Iverson like here is what his coach Scott Skiles has to say whose opinion matters most.
"He's one of those guys who has vision and can score without dominating the ball. It's easy to say I want a point guard to run my club and all that, but in the NBA a point guard has got to score some points for you, and he can do both,"
His coach went on to compare him to Tiny Archibald.
I'm not willing to put this guy on a pedestal just yet but I would think long and hard about pulling the trigger on this deal if we could do it salary wise.
I agree with Skiles there. Jennings generates more ball and player movement in a game than guys like Mo Williams and Ramon Sessions, to name his predecessors, in a season.
Iverson had a big problem (among others): he was a volume scorer but extremely inefficient. Nobody would complain about Iverson taking too many shots if he was scoring efficiently, just like nobody complains about Bird, Jordan or James (in all fairness though, in some of the teams he played for Iverson's inefficiency was probably a better option than getting more shots to his teammates). But so far Jennings has been extremely efficient (although he can't keep this pace).
Iverson was a good passer; the issue is that he relied too much on handling the ball and on the 1on1 game to create for others. Jennings is a completely different player, he runs the offence very well for a rookie PG (from this rookie class, I think Maynor is the only one that comes close).
